So, I took provinces worth 160-180% overextension in 3 wars in a row now (as Manchu/Qing, both south into Ming and west in the other hordes), and I don't feel there was any kind of proper punishment for it. Increase autonomy in the new provinces, core them, wait a year or two for the cores to finish, and then go for it again as soon as you get the opportunity. I only got 3 or 4 Rebel Sentiment events in all 3 cases combined too.
Only rebellion I got was from a faction already pretty high before, but that's more the fault of me decreasing autonomy in too many provinces at once than the actual overextension.
As long as you can keep your nation somewhat stable otherwise I feel you can just blob as much as you want without any real worries.
Coalitions aren't any threatening any more either, since a nation automatically gets kicked out upon losing a war with you, and nations having a truce with you can't join. So even without releasing nations to lose common borders it will be difficult to get any kind of meaningful coalition against you until the very lategame, when you should be strong enough that they actually work for you.
I guess the fact that there is just so much more to conquer now makes up for it to a certain degree, but it still feels somewhat silly to me. Anyone else feeling similar about this?
