True, no company can make unlimited amount of patches (unless it is MMO).
So sooner or later they have to move on. In fact 3 patches is quite a lot, most companies these days make 1.
It is not really choice of "all or nothing", as Semper Fi is pretty playable, certainly few notches above starting HOI3.
But to get even better experience, it is good idea to buy next expansion. If you read reviews and don't like next expansion, stick with Semper Fi, it can provide hundreds of hours of enjoyment already.
Yes, it is this ongoing support that keeps us buying their games, that and the fact that apart from the problems they often have on release, overall they are good games. Pity other companies do not follow suit so often.
Request for next expansion: A well researched revision of all on-map resourses, manpower, infrastructure, IC and leadership. These should be as accurate as possible and then not messed with in an attempt to balance the game, other ways to balance need to be looked at and these core values never touched unless they are revised for accuracy.
Something else is that leadership and manpower was not static, so losing a province did not always mean you lost what it's population had to offer. People just get up and move. French, Belgian, Jewish and Polish interlectuals and inventors etc went to places like London, while much of the Soviet leadership and manpower simply retreated. Can the devs find a way to model this dynamic?
