After playing the game for awhile I decided to take a look at the directory. Low and behold I was able to take the black fog of war off. I was also able to get some more leaders like Guderian and Manstien, I also have stretched the lands of Germany and the Allies. I was just wondering if you guys have ventured even further into the files given. For me it's a long way to January 4th and I'm hoping I can get some more gameplay out of this. I don't even know if I can actually play the game I just tried it and it CTDed.

Yeah I quickly found a way to show the whole map as well, simply because I was curious.

But I suspect that Paradox have removed all other tags but ALS and GER, so you can still only get limited playability out of it. Furthermore, you can't research techs and conduct diplomacy in the demo.

I use the whole map to get id's then I go back to the ardennes scenario file and write the id's such as yes = 320. If you feel so inclined to do so then you get each id possible to display and then you will have the full map without crashing.

That seems like an awful lot of work.

Anyhoo, a complete province.csv is in the demo (although who can say if this is the final province.csv?), so I had fun looking through that.

No problem, only about 2,700 provinces or so :D

Adding events, units, leaders and such basic things is no problem, I already fought carrier battles in the North Sea and played around with air cavalry divisions (Apocalypse Now, anyone?). :)

It IS a lot of work, though, and I think I already found a little bug: I couldn't add a division with an up-to-date brigade, it was always the oldest one existent. The problem is not that artificial, there is a random event for the Germans (no. 12) which gives you a panzer division with a brigade. And this brigade is old as well (PzJg I).

I think the scenario error when you start with the whole map revealed is because most of the provinces don't belong to anyone and the game realizes it. It might be as well because of the mysterious unit of General Lee somewhere in (normally hidden) France.

go into ardennes.eug in the scenario folder. Remove the first line after map = {
(think it was "all = no" it said) alternative to removing it is to put a # before it.

Then do the same with the coordinates that is displayed last under the "map brackets. (After the "#sea zones"... yes = 2473). Those coordinates is what stops you from looking around the world.

Now you can see it all, but all provinces is empty of raw materials and everything else, to be able to move into them you have to put a "yes = " and it's province number... don't know what you win on that tough. ;)

..also comment out the TOP and BOTTOM settings... and I changed no = all to yes = all (but I also inserted all the yes = 1, etc to 2068 for province numbers.

This, of course, leads to some negative thoughts on the US map. A lot of issues there.. possibly for game play? Or possibly because it was much more important to get europe right.

In any case, off the top of my head.. Maine not being forrested? Being called plains? The mojave desert is mountains? South Jersey (Atlantic City) should be marsh, not plains. In some cases they opted for the state borders and straight lines, in other cases they just made a border along the lines of the nearest city.

Eh.. 99 times out of 100 the terrain of the USA will be a non-issue. I'm just curious how good the European provinces and other likely batle sights are designed.

And, yes, the forces in Tours are interesting.. they are out of supply for some reason.

Any typo, bad number or mismatched bracket can cause a crash. That has been part of the fun of editing Paradox scenarios since EU1 :D

I know that from modding HoI... a simple # infront of three things though... But I decided to read the entire post, so... is the problem that I have to get every single province in the world = yes... (except its yes = )

Also, you can add techs into the ger.inc
It even tells you which ones belong to which type of research, although you don't know what it is exactly you have added.
