I have the home nation of a treade center asking for Exclusive Trade Rights in fur. My production will increase by 66% but, my trade income declines by 25%. I have almost no trade income to speak of because my merchants keep getting ousted from the trade center.

Can someone please explain to me the pros and cons of granting exclusive trade rights?

Actualy, exclusive trade rights give -25% to trade value of province, and 66% to production. Exclusive trade rights mean you give a trade league COT, trade value of those provinces, meaning, you don't get trade from those provinces. But if you don't trade, and don't have COT, it actualy helps to have this modifier. If you have COT, and those provinces income would come to your own COT, you loose your trade center a certain level of trade, possibly decreasing taxes. And if you trade in your own COT, but not in the league that offer you those trade rights, you loose some amount of trade.

If you are trade league, and you cannot get a country into the league, giving it trade rights, increase your COT value, and so, it grant your COT, extra tax and income if you trade in your league COT. But if you would get income from those provinces anyway, it does actualy decrease your trade, so it does not worth it.

So simply thats it.

I'm a member of the Hanseatic League. I trade at Lubeck, the HQ of the league. Hansa (owner of Lubeck) wants Exclusive Trade Rights. If I accept their deal are you saying I would make more by NOT trading with the league?

It dependn how many merchants you got in lubeck. Also it depend on how much provinces with certain good you have. Still trading always is better than not trading. By that i mean - if you got much production from provinces that produce good that they want exclusive trade rights, you may get more income from production, so it is good, as you don't need to care about COT value.

Sorry, I did not mention. I have six provinces producing furs and that's the item they want exclusive trade rights on.

Also, can I cancel exclusive trade rights whenever I like?
