Tokyo is set in the night time, we wanted to achieve a different mood for this new map. I think it gives nice variation. The day and night cycle is a tricky thing when the day lasts about 8 seconds in game. We will definitely need more time to figure out how to implement something like that with the quality we expect for Cities in Motion.

Well the amount of real hours the day lasts it's not a problem. In SimCity 4 we have day and night cycle and it goes slowly while the date goes fast. So its like a day will last 15 game days and a night another 15 game days. Doesn't matter. Pizza Connection 2 also have day/night cycle. It's very nice and accuracy is the least of your problems. I think the hardest is to implement rush hours, or at least something like more visitors to the cinema in the night, more visitors to the golf club during the day. Although, CiM is very dynamic. A person can go out of work and go to the Golf Club instead of home, so it's no strict like SC4. Anyway, just day/night cycle is enough.

Would be nice to see this in the future, especially that in the map editor there are so many options for lights.
Also the map editor should include something to toggle to night view, so you can see if your city is well illuminated before playing.

Day\night cycle is no more then a aesthetic addition. Personally, I disable this option when playing SimCity 4. The days go too fast for implementing rush hours, and for dealing with rush hours, we need time tables and a good method of controlling line frequency.
Day\night cycle was also in Airport Tycoon 3 which is a horrible game in my opinion. You could plan flight schedules, and if you didn't have enough runways terminals, flights get delayed. This was a nice feature, the game's biggest problem was that in order to deal with flight schedules, days went very slowly. And new contracts for flights came only once every few weeks, so the game progressed very slowly and you would have to sit and wait for ages until something happened.
In conclusion, in order to create "real" day\night cycle, the game time must go slowly, which will cause the player to sit and wait for something to happen. And nobody wants to play a game of waiting.

And on a lighter side, WOW! these are really good news!

The traffic direction was considered, but unfortunately with the small team we have we always have to prioritize. Editing and prioritizing is probably the hardest thing to do as a game developer. We would of course want to have everything done right away :)

I don't know how hard it is to make with your current code, but a mirror left/right or top/bottom to the display and you have your new traffic dirrection.

I wish it was that simple, but unfortunately it's not :(

But we will keep working on Cities in Motion and let's see what we can do in the future!

PLEASE, PLEASE make the campaign quests interesting and realistic! PLEASE!

Don’t ask me for bus stops in the 4 corners of the city, because after I build them, I delete the line as it cannot function so long.
Don’t ask me just to have some large sum of money to finish the game, as I just make a huge loan and that is it. Ask me for money without any loans.
Don’t ask me to carry 120 passengers on all lines at the end of the game, because that happens in 3 minutes.

Give me quests one after another in the same part of the city, or with some connection between them.
Ask me for a large total coverage, or a large number of passengers carried.
Ask me for a total number of different lines.
Make fixed conditions in the game, if you ask for no helicopters or no subway, than don’t allow me to build more.

Ask me for a major goal from the beginning: total coverage, monthly earnings, monthly passengers, total vehicles in the fleet, things like this!

Thank you for making future quests actually interesting and worthwhile.

Hi everyone,
I was Just wandering if below ground (not underground) train stations will be available in this expansion.
I don't know if my my eyes were deceiving me, however, I thought I had seen such station in the 45th second, top left quadrant of the silent trailer.
Anyway, thanks for the ongoing development of the game. Looking forward to the release.

Here's the official announcement as well as Forum post here.

I'm sorry the announcement came later than I promised. I blame the time difference between Finland and Sweden ;)

I'm very glad you like the Tokyo theme! And thanks to all of you, since you are the reason we have the opportunity to develop Cities in Motion further.

Hey, great job! You are the hardest working game team that I know (and with the best results).
Do you have a list of other improvements that you make in the game ? Like new features, ballance issue, bug fixes. Please let us know since I can't wait!

Thanks! For May we have Design Marvels DLC (5 new vehicles), Tokyo expansion (new map + campaign, monorail and new vehicles) and two other things I'm not allowed to tell before the dates have been set by Paradox. But I will say that there's one improvement that you have asked for that is coming soon ;)

And I can't wait to tell you either!

Yay! I have been asking for a new pathfinding alghoritm for boats and for improvements to the message system :D

Also I want to congratulate you for answering fans all the time on the forum. On other forums (CiV) you don't get a representative for weeks.
