I noticed CK3 is using a very large amount of memory (more than 10 GB according to the Ressource Monitor) with just launching the game.

This lead to systematic crash when using mods and instability in vanilla (depending on other RAMusage).

Increasing RAM via the paging size solves the problem however such a high ram usage doesn't seems normal.

Is that only when using mods? What do you see when all of them are disabled?

In the main game menu ck3.exe uses 2.4gb on my modest rig. At the start of a new game, 3.6gb.

I reach 10 GB committed (so virtual memory) without any mod in the main menu and just a bit more when starting a new game.
Physical memory seems not too high however.

I was only looking at physical memory. To get that many page faults I'd think you might be short of memory overall, perhaps running a lot of other stuff at the same time?

If you exit all other apps before starting the game does that still happen? What size page file do you have? I recommend at least 16gb these days, in some cases up to 64gb.

BTW where is that dialog? It's not one I'm familiar with.

I'm not usually running much: steam, firefox, discord. I have 16GB RAM.

I was using 12GB for paging size and switched to automatic. Windows currently set it to 26 GB.

This dialog is from process explorer.

Okay, I recommend at least a 32gb maximum these days, in some cases up to 64gb!
