Just want to do a post on how much I'm enjoying the demo since I've just done a few complaining about some of the details. I'm sure that I'll have even more fun once I get the full game next week.

The new event system that doesn't subject me to penalties to force historical collapses or give me unwarranted bonuses to encourage historical growth is what I've been wanting since EU1. A truly dynamic system really brings the game to a whole new level; I much prefer to play a game with strong cause and effect rules than a history simulator.

While the game can (and will - Paradox' track record of support for their games speaks for itself) be improved, and mods will surely abound to cater to the different tastes within the playerbase, I think that this game is the best one Paradox has done yet, and has me looking forward to the ones that will be built from this engine.

I agree. I had my doubts but it is looking to be a fantastic game. The demo is only barely satisfying me until my preorder arrives.
