I don’t agree with many of the complaints but am all for battles meaning more for war score. I’ve always been curious about shorter battle duration as well.

Most battles in this time period were measured in hours, not days. It almost seems like battles should occur with the game paused or on a speed lower than 1, although that might not be super feasible.

Indeed. I’ve never been quite convinced by the “a battle is actually a series of battles in the area” reasoning from Paradox. I’d be curious to see what instantaneous battles (or perhaps 2-4 day versions to allow for the respective cycles) would be like. It may or may not give more advantage to the player.

I usually park 1 siege army on a fort and use the rest of my armies to guard/help allies while they seige. Then move onto the next fort when I'm done. As long as you keep your allies in the war, you can re-seige any provinces the enemy takes while you keep tearing down their troops. No need for frontlines.

Also, as others have said, never count the AI's troops when factoring strength, because they can be worthless allies.
