So, I just turned my caliphate into an absolute imperial autocracy (or something similarly sounding). Before I abolished the council there were some harem women dancing in front of my relaxed looking sultan. Now that I've abolished it, I got the picture of some creepy looking guy with a turban clutching his sword with a look like he wants to lick it ... it looks quite villainish. So I thought, okay, Paradox assumes that all autocratic absolute hereditary imperial governments are bad. I can get behind that, I guess. Then I switch religions around via the console just to see what the other pictures look like. Guess what? The Christian version is oozing imperial splendor and the Norse version is kind of scenic but nice. Then I am like: "What the hell? Why is the Muslim government portrait the only evil looking one?" From what I gather, Muslim empires weren't all that bad to live in during medieval times. Especially in comparison to its European counterparts.

To make a long story short: Please change the picture. I could understand it if my ruler was a lunatic or something, but he is just about as enlightened as it gets. I'll use a mod to replace it with one of the other pictures in the meantime (it gets seriously annoying after a time).

Edit:
Oh, and I'm not suggesting that the Dev team is anti-islam or anything remotely similar. Just a very poor design choice in my book.

Edit 2:
See further down below for pictures.

This is a problem? How often do you look at the laws screen when you only have 1 inheritance law anyway?
I haven't checked this, but I'm pretty sure in 2.5.2 you can open up Elective as Muslims... so that's at least 2 anyways, and you'll likely be looking at it a fair amount under Elective.

How do muslim realms go elective? I started a 769 game and the caliphate went elective. I asked in the quick answers but did not get an answer.

From what it LOOKS like, they have to go full blown Empowered Council. The new law added in 2.5.2 (the name escapes me, but it's the bottom most right) SAYS it "opens up Elective succession in Muslim realms" or something similar. I haven't tested this myself yet, but it sounds interesting.

I like that they are not locked to open succesion now but with elective I worry muslim blobs are going to be even more ridiculous in early starts.

I hope it keeps them busy with claim wars and factions pressing claims instead of rapid, unstoppable expansion. It may also split up some realms between different elected successors (mostly Umayyads, sadly never Abbablobs).

I think I know the picture you're talking about. It shows up for some lunatic events I believe. They probably just have a lack of art for the different government types and just wanted to use that one somewhere.

That makes sense...I looked up the actual file and it even has the word "lunatic" in the file name. Still. They should change it. Granted, the Christian one also isn't nice now that I take a closer look at it. I originally thought it was some guy kneeling in front of his king, but now I think that he's in chains scrubbing the floor. Norse still got their cozy home though :)

You better provide a screenshot so we all know you're not just making stuff up.
Kind of rude, but okay.

The muslim one is actually the only one where you don't see any victim, just a sword. Norse : Tree full of dead bodies in what looks like... Northrend. Christian : Naked bald guy laying before what seems like a bossy dwarf king.

I think the other two are meant to be villainous as well (with the hanged corpses and the screaming king), but the Muslim one is definitively the most over the top one.

Wouldn't be a bad picture for the 'sultanate of terror' assuming musims can also get demonspawn. Still, technically its the least evil of the three; at least he isn't shouting at a slave/servant, or decorating trees with corpses.

Honestly, having centralized realms with the evil pictures seems a bit out of place. Centralized doesn't necessarily mean a realm is particularly brutal.
