Really? So, what are demoes for? Aren't they supposed to help a potential buyer to make a purchasing decision?

I'm sure what xack10 meant in this case is not to judge the complexity or how 'easy' EUIV is based on its demo. And we shouldn't. It's a demo for Pete's sake. The complexity of the game will reveal itself once we get into the grand campaign of various countries. Also, in this case, if someone is just browsing through games on Steam and decides to download the demo for EUIV to see if they like it they most likely are in the camp of 'not played much PDS games; possibly only CK2'. To that person the demo will be just fine and show quite a complex game of grand strategy. Now, to an EU addict (as most of the people on this forum are), the demo may seem 'lame', 'too easy', 'dumbed down', etc. Because they're familiar with EUIII and are expecting certain things.

To sum up, the demo is fine for people trying to discover if they would like a game like EUIV.
For the people on this forum, they are holding the demo up to a level that it was never meant to be held to. They're trying to equate it to what the full game will be like. They jump to conclusions based on the demo. Which they shouldn't.

So the demo isn't what the full game is going to be like? Am I really buying CK3?

i get what you mean, but you are aware that you are trolling, right? cant imagine you dont know what _he_ meant with that.

if i am wrong though: the demo is meant to showcase game mechanics, graphics and a little bit of actual gameplay(heavily restricted though it may be).

it is certainly not meant to showcase abstract concepts like "difficulty" or "challenge provided", because that requires aforementioned restrictions to be gone. and i heavily suspect you knew exactly that this is what he meant

Will just keep my opinion to myself from now on looks like even the forum are overrun by mass market teens who think this game is not getting dumbed down.

you can keep your opinion to whoever you want, but you won't be right. I've seen many posts of you complaining but not making any actual reason. This the same.

I think THIS could be an actual game available to the mass public, easier to understand by more people than its predecessors. But I don't find any reason to think it is easyer than any other game. You must have started your game with Ottos or Austrians, both of which starts on the top of their power, and have few challenging rivals near. I bet you didn¡t started a game with venice... I've done it and I tell you I didn'n managed to conquer any province without being crushed both by Austria and Ottomans...

Show evidences of what you state. Anything else its trolling.

No. A sizeable percentage of the overly vocal forum community agrees with you and it has been established several times over that the forum community is not representative of the entire populace playing the game. Just look at the fuss about a non-steam version for CK2 and EUIV and how many people actually bought CK2 at non-steam outlets. Just because people on the forum seem to largely agree on a topic doesn't automatically mean all players do so as well. Paradox has to pander to those players just as well as to the forumites.

What you said is obvious. What I'm saying is that I believe a sizable percentage of people who play the EU series (and not just those who go on this forum) agree with me. I have no statistics, but neither do you, so there's little we can say except that 'we think (x)'.

Already 30 hours playtime with this demo-version! Guess I like games designed for the masses :) Honestly: I am quite sure it's the best paradox-release so far. Anyone remembering the disastrous condition of EU3, when it came on the market a couple of years ago? By comparison this game has got a very bright future!

Oh come on OP, this is what EU series has always been like and this is how most of us like it, I for example really like the EU series and I think the other Paradox titles are pretty boring in comparison. So if you want things to be overcomplicated then they got plenty of other games you can dig, like that Victoria crap...

Paradox's games are probably the most hardcore, small-demographic games I can imagine. I don't think there could be a more complicated set of games in existence.

As for the demo showing the game being aimed at the mainstream, well, good luck with that because I'm utterly lost and I go into this with at least a very vague understanding of some of their game's previous concepts and interfaces.

There are tabletop games more complex than EU4.

They take literally months to play.

Dwarf fortress.. *Shudder*

If you think Paradox games are the most complicated set of games in existence, you know nothing yet.
