Played a bit of Advanced Third Reich, so them counters grow on you. Gives you the real feel of looking at a map.

In fact, I love them so much, I have begun applying them to uses they were not intended as. Instead of them damn red dots saying "You are here" on maps, I prefer a simple infantry counter. Instead of a car on my GPS, I prefer an armour counter.

The list goes on. Soon, all I can imagine in the real world are these counters. Nothing like reducing people to their representation.

I've always been using sprites, because I could not read counters.
That until I tried a game with counters last year, I got used to it easily and since then...
:cool: I ALWAYS use COUNTERS!:cool:

You should try it too, don't be afraid of the squares!

I always loved counters more. :)

Sprites could appeal to me but as I remember from HoI1/2 the default set was usually too bland for me and sprites from spritepacks hadn't a unified look. Anyway now there's little guarantee that I could go away from using counters, I just got used to them.

Sprites.

I had a bad experience with counters on wine. Although that bug might be fixed.

Counters are more practical but due to the lack of proper AI unit grouping they allow for a much more effective way of being able to judge exactly what number is in enemy provinces without having to invest heavily in intelligence. Whereas although sprites are less informative about your units the reverse is also true unless you have maxed out intelligence which to me is more realistic and as such I use sprites.

As such I use sprites as it makes the game more difficult, and, less full of towers of babylon late game.

If you have a strongly held preference for Counters or Sprites, thats all well and good, but don't make silly comments like this. I doubt any of the sprite users here are anywhere near being under 12 years old
