Ever notice how well the XCOM universe fits in Stellaris?

I am currently doing a Long War 2 run in XCOM 2 and once I am victorious I will then continue the story with Stellaris: Utopia.

What do you guys think an XCOM government would look like? Xenophobe, materialist, and militaristic for sure, but what about authority and civics?(from what we have seen anyways)

and the Aliens from XCOM, Authoritarian, militaristic, and....what else? how should I build them? What portrait models should I use? Not sure what AI would put founder species on top and then genetically alter all the underling species in stellaris. How would I find an AI to do that?

Aliens could either be Xenophobe or Xenophile depending on your viewpoint, suppose they tend to enslave other races so probably the former. Collectivist/Authoritarian for sure, though this could be replaced with Xenophobe. They really seem to be Materialist and Spiritualist to my mind, the Psionics obviously require Spiritualism and the Elders come across as very Spiritualist, but they are also highly technological.

Really I'd go with Xenophobe, Militarist, Spiritualist for Aliens

For Xcom humanity, probably Xenophobic, Militarist, Materialist. Though again the issue is, would humanity be Xenophobic to all Aliens, or simply the ones who invaded us?

They would certainly not have had a good first contact, so they would be far more xenophobic than xenophile at first. That could change later according to the new Utopia mechanics.

The 2 games are like brothers, both of them lags a lot even with a i7.

Which makes me think : for an additional layer of empire creation, it would be interesting if we could set not only the starting ethos of AI empire's, but also what they strive for. Maybe it's overcomplicated, but this could make interesting schizophrenic AI empires, with a government willing to trust other empires and a population profoundly xenophobe.

Would be neat if you could customize your start right down to starting location on the map, what ethos each starting pop has, name lists (without modding),and what your starting solar system looks like.

Funny thing, in one of my more recent playthroughs one of the AI went crazy with genetic engineering and so looking at the the species screen yeilded at least 20 different sub species of one of the species that had spawned, all named the same exact thing. (except with different traits) I don't recall which personality it had.

Stellaris seems to have been designed to allow that and similar things. One of the "Agressive Observation" Event chains involves the primitives forming X-COM.

Xenophobe, Militarist definitely.
For Civics there was a "Shadow Council" one. Wich would fit thematically for both the Mimbary of Babylon 5 and the X-Com humanity.

As for the Aliens:
No special modelling needed. All the humans ever see are thier miltary forces. What they throw at you could just be the aliens interpreation of a Gene Warrior Army or Clone Army. Or even just a normal, multispecies space army.
What the aliens are doing is somewhere between Agressive Observation, non-secret Infiltration and outright military invasion. Even the ships they do send are technically only sligthly armed transports and shutteles, not Interstellar Warships.
I could definitely see them going for a Biological Ascension Path, but I do not know if you can somehow set the AI up for that.

The Elders are fanatic spiritualist/authoritarian, everything else are thrall races they've genemodded to nonidentity.

It's a shame materialism can't be taken with spiritualism since realistically they fit both.

They would certainly not have had a good first contact, so they would be far more xenophobic than xenophile at first. That could change later according to the new Utopia mechanics.

Especially since, canonically, X-COM Earth genocided the aliens that invaded them by blowing up their star system. In one of the canceled X-COM games, X-COM was going to ally itself with another alien race to beat up the aliens that invaded Earth, too.

The Elders are fanatic spiritualist/authoritarian, everything else are thrall races they've genemodded to nonidentity.

It's a shame materialism can't be taken with spiritualism since realistically they fit both.
But you do not need to. Authoritarian and Spiritualist always overlapped in regards to Ethics Divergence (Collectivist got it's from Tech).

Biological Ascension could be used to make optimised, Nerve Stapeled Slave Races (with the ability to remove positive and add negative traits). So Authoritarian/Fanatic Materialist might fit.

If it is about Psionics: Again, you can pick Biological Ascension propably as everyone.

The degree of the Elders' psionics is clearly psionic ascension level, sorry. They're straight up body-hopping and linking all their slaves psionically with it. They also in general have a very spiritualist atmosphere to them, especially in the first firaxis game.

This is especially obvious with the Volunteer from Enemy Unknown, who both has the psionic power to take a colossal spaceship away from earth and also according to the directors use their powers to escape the explosion that follows.
