I am pretty sure Podcat mentioned events somewhere, but I can't remember in which thread. If I recall correctly they will be more like EU4. They will not be tied to specific dates as much as tied to certain conditions being met, conditions which, of course, may never be met.

So, enough events to still capture the WWII flavor, but not in such a way that it straightjackets us into an historical timeline.

IIRC, they are still in the game but they are more dynamic and not as rigid as they were in HOI3. Example I remember is Germany will not automatically get the sudetenland when the event can be fired. They will need some form of military presence on the boarder with Czechoslovakia or the Czechs will not cave in to the demand.

Edit. Found this in the livestream forum post:
from Podcat:
As an example: you could disband your entire military as germany and it had no impact on the sudeten crisis... rigid events leads to an AI that cant cope with stuff when they go outside what the event writer at the time envisioned could happen.

I'd like some events like in Mod33 for HoI2, that is to say events that pop up and add some real flavour to the game, rather than generic decisions that make the game feel neutral. But I like the decision process of Darkest Hour, with requirements to meet, so what I would like to see is a combination of events and decisions. But that's just a subjective thinking, actually I trust the devs to make the right choice for their game.

All the random events, especially the ones with multiple choices (each with their own strengths and drawbacks), was one of the things I really liked about EU3, and missed in HOI3 (it had random events, but not that many, and not really that exciting).
Hoping there will be more in HOI4 as they aid immersion and allows the game to "explore" things that otherwise wouldn't make it into the game. For example, there is no partisan/commando ship sabotage in HOI3, but this could have been implemented as a random event, or a decision of sorts that you could "fire" against an enemy player.

I would like to see some of the major events in History represented by the Game such as Einstein's Letter to encourage development of a Nuclear Bomb (add research bonus). Concentration camps with Holocaust, the U.S.'s Japanese Population, or even a quick advancement through heavily populated areas as an event (decrease manpower, increase hostilities and belligerence with other nations, but decreases decent). One of Germany's problems with invading the USSR so quickly is that they had so many soldiers surrendering that they needed to find a solution of what to do with them... Concentration camp, Slave Labor Camp, or War Crime Execution of prisoners. Events like these would be simple to include and add historical and logical realism to this amazing franchise.

I was wondering more about event oobs, since it seems with the new division builder they are taking away the ability to form new units on the map the only other way to form KG's or special adhoc units will have to be through events I guess which kind of sucks because I liked being able to make my own.

I object to what's going on in this thread. When I myself committed some small violations of forum rules, such as putting ASCII art in my signature and debating the moderator's actions against someone else's post, the mods reacted quickly and made me submit! But now, when an obvious troll is doing a much greater offense, they do nothing, the thread is allowed to exist and the perpetrator is not banned!

Stacking rules violations on top of rules violations is not good practice.

Discussing genocide, war crimes, concentration camps, poor treatment of POWs, and a whole list of other things related to the war and crimes against humanity is against forum rules. Making jokes about them is also unacceptable.

It is also against forum rules to comment on moderator actions or perceived inaction.

And when something unacceptable is posted, the correct course of action is to contact one or more moderators to assist. Since we are not omniscient nor omnipresent, your help is always appreciated.

Since this thread has gone off the rails, I'm going ahead and closing it.
