Hi,
I was thinking of a few more events that could be applied to any country. Psot your own event ideas and what do you think of these..?

Increased power to trade unions-
Consumer demand increase, more manpower, reduced IC. This would happen in a left wind democratic country (maybe if you overproducing IC for consumer?)

Decreased power to trade unions
The opposite of the one above.

Corrupt Minister
Decreased money supply over a period of time (deomcratic nations). Possibly increased dissent.

Purge Army
Old guards are purged from the army who are then replaced with the upcoming commanders (only in authoritarian regimes)

Civil rights movement
Probably in the USA or South Africa. Manpower increases as well as IC.

Legality of DoW questioned
I think something like this already exists but this would happen i a democratic country who declare war on a country with insuffiecnt belligerence (increase dissent)

I would also like to see the Nannjing massacre event removed due to obvious reasons.

Please post your own ideas on events that should be in the game.

Keaton

Basically because it is a civillain massacre (300,000 apparently) Although my chinese friend told me 30,000,000 (yes we realise he was wrong).
Your friend was probably referring to the total death toll, which IIRC was estimated at 20-30 million civilians and 2-3 million military deaths. In China. Overseas Chinese in SE Asia, IIRC, constituted another 20 million (and another 10 million non-ethnic-Chinese were also killed).

So since Paradox games deny it thier illegal in germany?
It doesn't mention it. That's not the same as denying it. P'dox doesn't sticky a post saying that "We don't have the Holocaust in our game 'cos it didn't happen." It's a smart way around censors.

Agreed... there's a big difference between not mentioning it and denying it.

They don't mention Dinosaurs, either... except perhaps in their Logo... does that mean that they deny that Dinosaurs existed?... or just that they are not considered relevant to the game?

What you're saying doesn't make sense anyway. We should make the game more unrealistic because it has to be somewhat unrealistic?

No, we should ignore the civilian effect of the war in asia as well as the war in europe. Too many threads have descended into OT and flames just because of this issue, and frankly I don't see any Germany enthusiasts getting jumped by wannabe war - crimes prosecutors on the forums... as you regularly do if you mention Japan.

We just want the same treatment, that's all. Get this topic back into Alt.History and away from the game!

In this case, there's no difference. This game is not about The World and History between '36-'48('52) but the Economy, Diplomacy, Intelligence and Warfare of the era. Becuse of this I understand Paradox' wish to keep war crimes and such out of it - they don't fit into any of those categories. However, when it goes to including some crimes and excluding others, it equals to recognizing that these "things happened, these didn't." It makes the fate and lives of people - those Chinese in Nanking and those Yugoslavians in Belgrad - to be of different importance and value.

If this was a game about EVERYTHING between those years, all crimes should be included.

As it has been stated that it isn't, NO CRIMES should be in it.

This style, including Nanjing and excluding Katyn, Babi Jar, Lienz and Dresden can be taken as a quite clear message.
