Oh the event system may turn out to be one of the most interesting parts of the game for some people.
On that last screen it shows that you can set it to check for flags that get set when you do things like purchase/fix/upgrade the Argo. ie the hydroponics section.

That's probably why it is named Tripple-F. You are going to drop at least 3 F-Words as you are doubled over in pain on the lavatory floor

Hopefully by then, the Argo’s toilettes had been upgraded to something better than the Howard Wolowitz zero gravity waste redistribution system.

Notice at 1:10 that there is an option listed in red: Argo Hydroponics. It seems that certain options are only available if you've upgraded your systems to a certain level.
Yeah, Jordan, I think, said that in the Q&A about having to get stuff working, mainly power conduits or something, before you get the other parts or the option to get the other parts working.

This thread and all its cousins have been moved to the Battletech Universe thread due to forum organization and usability needs as a compromise after consulting with the thread author. A direct link still exists in the main subforum for each thread, but IIRC it will not bump with each post like the actual threads will. This is one of those features I wasn't expecting when I first heard about the game, but instantly loved the idea of once I read about it. It's one of those things that breathes a lot of life into the out-of-combat parts of the game and keeps things from getting stale, as well as opening up some small RP opportunities.

Huh. In the Feb 14th Q&A they said the previously-announced loan system had been cut. Maybe this is just a tag to trigger later events, as opposed to a "cities skylines" style loan system as they had previously suggested?

If I lose a Vet mechjock on an EVA to repair a loose coupling, I will rage quit and reload the last save.
