Merchants' Guild Asks for Extensive Privileges (Economic Event Series):
-technology requirements: Long-distance trade, business contracts, annual sailing...
-what it does: establish trade league that will handle trade for your entire realm, or at least one kingdom within it; you and your vassals (depending on centralization) join new trade league. One port gains advantage in tax value and trade, at expense of others;
-possible other benefits: center of trade (others nearby closed), gain shipyard, annual cash payment to the Crown (could be ongoing negotiations for this); could lead to exploration events if whole map not revealed (for Canary and other Atlantic islands, for example).

You have taken away privilages of the church, or confiscated land, or appointed your own candidate to a church possition (Excludes if playing as papal states), attacked the Papal States.

1. Give back some privilages (I agree, lose barons support, increase peasant loyalty, lose respect of other leaders, gain piety) (I disagree, gain respect of other leaders, lose piety, church loyalty decreases, peasant loyalty decreases)

2. Root out heritics (I am a good christian, increase piety, increase loyalty, risk of assassination 0.2) (Find traitors to the Crown, decrease piety, increase respect of other leaders, increase loyalty, risk of assassination 0.3)

3. Support another Pope (You are not the legate of God, increase piety, decrease stability) (I need an excuse, decrease piety, increase subterfuge skill)

Can't happen if ruler is heirless (to prevent auto-lose).

Love and hate
Fires for child or adult player character. Somebody at your or neighbor court (not friend, not enemy, not relative) bothers you; you can't understand him and feel there's something strange in this person. You can't decide if this person attracts or disgusts you.
Possible reaction:
- I think I need to know him better (high possibility of friendship).
- This person is dangerous, have to keep an eye on him (high possibility of becoming enemies).
- I have to distance myself from such strange man (low possibility of friendship or becoming enemies, low possibility of depression).

Sorry for crappy text, but basically this event allows you to dramatically change you relationships with somebody. Maybe it should fire more often with more energetic or prominent target NPCs so decision would be more interesting and important.

Fires for a courtier with high prestige and religious points. Bonus for fanatism and similar traits. Country has to border heathen/muslim/heretic country.
[Courtie's name] had a prophetic dream in which the Lord asked him to bring a sword on his enemies at [Bordering heathen/muslim/heretic country] and promised a glorious victory. Some people listen to him and get ready to war.
Reaction:
- God wouldn't want us to start a war in such a drastic times! (huge prestige loss for courtier and religious points loss for PC).
- I won't stop him from using his sword (Courtier dies OR gets huge prestige loss OR leaves to the other court)
- Deus Vult! (start a war, huge prestige bonus for courtie, religious points for PC)

If there will be personal goals like in Rome this event doesn't add much.

Here's a general idea: events for stressed or depressed family members. Some possibilities:

1. Your heir is depressed, his new bride feels neglected, and the succession is in question because of it (should tie into characters' ambitions). Choices:
a. He'll get over it. (no effect, though I don't know prevalence of suicide)
b. Well, someone should keep his wife happy. (gain lustful, chance of baby born to crown princess)
c. Put the boy in charge of a military patrol. Fresh air will do him good. (heir: +1 martial, +20 prestige, gain valorous, chance of losing depression)

2. Your foreign-born wife is feeling homesick. Maybe you should do something to cheer her up?
a. It's not my concern whether she's happy or not. (gain cruel; negative relations with father-in-law; lose 20 prestige)
b. Show her the wonders of our realm. (gain romantic; gain 20 prestige; chance of wife losing depression; positive relations with vassals)
c. Try to make her feel more at home. (gain merciful; gain 50 prestige; positive relations with father-in-law; very good chance of wife losing depression)

Here's a general idea: events for stressed or depressed family members. Some possibilities:
1b is too... strange for a common event. 1c seems too random and gives too much effects - changing character stats is exploitable and too big thing for common event. And it rises a question why can't I put anybody in charge of a military patrol to gain great effects, not just some whiny looser.

I think it could be transformed into more general effect: your son's wife has no children (and possibly depressed) and marriage is at least year old, and your king is lustful. So you can be bad or good with possibility of becoming enemies with your son. If your son is depressed it lower the chance of pregnancy, but there could be other possibilities (he wanders in wars etc). And this event could be made even more general - your PC sees some depressed (read desperate) woman in court - she can be depressed because he has no husband or because the husband is bad etc and our PC can, err, help her. That way our new event can fire in conditions you describe but can also fire in some other giving us not a just a cool story but a cool brick for several stories - angry husband can be anyone, lonely woman can be anyone, ta-dam, we've got Shakespear tragedy generator.

The second event is much better I think.

Your unmarried son has shown interest in a baron's daughter:
1. Perhaps something can be arranged- marriage offered
2. He deserves better- chance your son will leave the court, relationship with your son drop
3. Well, they don't have to be married- chance the baron's daughter comes to your court, she and your son will hbe considered "friends". Chance a bastard is born.

1b is too... strange for a common event. 1c seems too random and gives too much effects - changing character stats is exploitable and too big thing for common event. And it rises a question why can't I put anybody in charge of a military patrol to gain great effects, not just some whiny looser.

I think it could be transformed into more general effect: your son's wife has no children (and possibly depressed) and marriage is at least year old, and your king is lustful. So you can be bad or good with possibility of becoming enemies with your son. If your son is depressed it lower the chance of pregnancy, but there could be other possibilities (he wanders in wars etc). And this event could be made even more general - your PC sees some depressed (read desperate) woman in court - she can be depressed because he has no husband or because the husband is bad etc and our PC can, err, help her. That way our new event can fire in conditions you describe but can also fire in some other giving us not a just a cool story but a cool brick for several stories - angry husband can be anyone, lonely woman can be anyone, ta-dam, we've got Shakespear tragedy generator.

The second event is much better I think.

That's a good criticism. #1 is from my experience with depressed heirs with low fertility and a dynastic union in the balance, but you're right that it should be more general. The husband's reaction might depend on his traits: he might be the violent kind (even a vassal--a rebellion started with an affair of honor or more likely an assassination attempt) or a real pushover. Either way it should be interesting.

For the Holy Roman Emperor: accepting or rejecting a town's request to become an Imperial city. Must be imperial demesne. Accepting would mean an increase in the power of the burghers and a decrease in the power of the clergy and nobles, the province will provide more gold and fewer troops (mostly infantry). Rejecting will (a) either preserve the status quo, (b) increase the power of the nobles and clergy decreasing that of the burghers and having the province provide less gold but more troops and (c) a slight chance of burgher revolt.

For Poland, Bohemia and Hungary - German colonization: to reflect the efforts of the Kings to improve the defenses and the economy of their respective lands. The province's culture will change to German (Sachsen, Schwaben, etc.), fortifications of the province will improve by +1, revenue and burger power will increase, noble power will decrease, clergy will stay the same.

Good. I think that we would need a basic colonization series. IIRC provinces will not have culture, only characters will, so there could be assimilation events for Slavic nobles to change their culture to German for instance. That would be one choice, of course. Another option would be to get rid of the local nobility in favor of Germans: the House of Luxembourg had a lot of trouble ruling in Bohemia, so expect some opposition. For Slavic pagans, there is more complications, but the basic question is: assimilation or domination. A more general colonization event series might be warranted, for the Baltic and Prussia as well as for Crusader States established in Muslim controlled areas.

Well, provinces not having culture might pose a problem with the German colonization events since during the game's timeline (under the Presmyslids, Piasts and Arpads) the native nobility was only slightly affected by the German immigration as this was mainly composed of burghers not nobles, a different class with different rights and duties under the laws of the land.
The Baltic prussians and slavs were subjugated and eventually assimilated by the Teutonic Order and its partners, the Brotherhood of the Sword, which, from what I understood, will not be playable.
In this case the game could keep the increase of fortifications (to reflect the urbanization) and income (commerce).

Well, I would be really carefull about colonization based cultural change events. For example in case of Bohemia only 8% were settled by german colonists and this colonization occured in 13th and 14th century. Truth is that cities were affected and some of them became german but "provinces" were still czech (or maximally bilingual).

Here's another idea for an event series: the search for the Holy Grail. Requirements: troubadours (Chretien de Troyes first popularized the Grail quest in upper-class French circles), maybe "Crusader" trait.

A courtier present a claim one of the baronies in your realm
1. I will banish you from my court! (the courtier is banished)
2. I never liked baron Harkonnen anyways (the baron is deposed, all vassals and barons lose loyalty, gain infamy, the courtier is installed as the new baron)
3. Hmm, let's see what happens (might lead to complicated event chains where the courtier continue to plot and gather allies to get his barony)

Lordship Events

I want to see the return of CK1's lordship events, but with more sparkle and diversity. These represented your vassals coming to you to decide cases, make reforms, and approve of enterprising opportunities. They should happen rather often and along with flavor set up some subtle changes to your character and his or her realm, as well as your children's education. Some examples:

1. The mayor of a city in your demesne ask for you to grant them a charter (a yes leads to one or more events in a chain, where you negotiate what the charter will contain, unless you already have a standard municipal law code). A charter means happier townsmen but less taxes for you, but chartered towns might take on more improvement projects like roadbuilding.

2. Your spiritual lord (what diocesan bishops are being called these days) has charged one of your barons with witchcraft. (this is a tricky one, but it could scandalize the local clergy if you dismiss the case outright or bring the death of one of your vassals or bring in the papal inquisition, but its effects should be significant.)

3. A travelling troubadour asks for your patronage. (a good flavor event, may have good consequences for short-term relations with your courtiers and vassals if you say yes)

4. Plot Event The slave of one of your vassals reports that his master is plotting against the Crown. Choices: (a) investigate his allegations; (b) who is to believe the word of a slave against his master; (c) have him flogged for his insolence.

5. Merchants complain that the roads in the county are plagued with brigands and highwaymen. (a) Turn to your spymaster to root them out (further events follow); (b) Turn to your marshal: this is a military matter (further events follow); (c) These merchants should secure their goods with their own coin (towns become less loyal...)

6. Plot Event A loyal courtier who has served you for a long time asks for your help in restoring his ancestral land. (a) I'll consider it in my future plans {gain claim on ancestral land on his behalf}; (b) The time is now! You will celebrate the new year in the halls of your fathers {declare war on the current holder of the title}; (c) You have served me well, but not well enough to go to war. {lose loyalty from the courtier, maybe leaves court}
