I'm wodering about the historicality of an event where, if you colonized all the Philippines, it would tell you that there was mass public interest toward developing the Philippines. It would ask you which island you wanted to set up a base in, and you would get +5000 population, a shipyard, and base taxe and manpower +1 or 2, maybe even 3. The other islands would get +1000 population. Just wondering. Thanks.

Its difficult. I remember wanting an event that would grant independence to the Pirate Havens in Tortuga in the carribean but I couldnt get it to work properly.

The problem is that no-one owns the islands in question. The event can kick in for the island if it is held by a country or by province. BUT If it is a Trading Post the event may still trigger but it may cause crashes. (for example I had it trigger so the Pirate Havens capital was a level 2 Trading Post - the game became unstable after that). I had the event add population but it doesnt work on a TP so that didnt work either.

Hmmm, any advice on a way to get around it, maybe require the population to be a trigger if it can be? It's too bad that iif an event causes a TP to have its pop increased to become a colony if the resulting pop is over 100.

This stops it from firing for trading posts

Here is how I would do this. Since the province is either pagan or Muslim when there are TPs there, run a check where you look and if they own the province AND the province is catholic, or what ever religion the country you are thinking about controlling it. (Reformed for Dutch IE)

provincereligion = { province = x data = y }

Since once you have a colony there the province converts to the mother countries religion, it will only fire when there are colonies there. Hope that helps.

Thank you very much. I'll probably only have it for England France Spain Portugal and Netherlands since that's usually the only people who colonize. Should I also change the corresponding AI files to have them each try to expand over there or...?

EDIT: Another question, how would I go about making an option in scenario start up screen to have usermade events or not?
