Historically, Suleiman offered to let Constantine rule Morea as his vassal in exchange for handing over Constantinople without a fight. Historically, Constantine preferred to die on his feet, but why not have an event for the option? The Ottomans could choose to make this offer, or just declare war. Byzantium accepting would end the war immediately, turn Constantinople over to the Ottomans, and make Byzantium (and any of their vassals) an Ottoman vassal. AI Byzantium would accept maybe 25% of the time under normal conditions, with a modifier to make accepting less likely if the balance of power is less bad for Byzantium; AI Ottomans would always make the offer.
On a related note (I may have mentioned something like this before), as Trebizond's rulers claimed to be the legitimate heirs to the Empire, they should either have tree goals to get, or just start with, permanent claims on all core Byzantine territories.
