Sorry about not campaigning, folks...I was out on Thurs. & Friday, didn't get the chance on Saturday, server was down on Sunday, and I was out for all of Monday and most of today...I should get a speech out tonight, and go on the offensive in the final hours tomorrow.

what would be best is creating a secratary of foreign affairs or some office that doesnt go away unless a president chooses to specificcaly appoint a new one. that would give a more solid foreign affairs and create another position that doesnt change every 2-3 months. that and a SAW commander might be good ways to create new positions. SAW chief or police chief of whole country. would still take orders from their perspective ministers but could opperate on their own

Another option is to make the President plenipotentiary in foreign relations - let him be his own foreign minister. Of course, I'm not sure how much work being President is already.

Well since the President is Head of Government and Head of State this seems like an implicit power to me, one that most Presidents simply haven't done much with.

But this whole discussion seems to me something that we should be having in-game except I want to say to JL that I think if anything we still have too high a position to player ration so adding a SAW and Foreign Leader would be bad in that sense. But like I said the ideas here seem like things we should be talking about IC.

Well, I suppose the President could technically run every department and issue every order because, as you note, it's all his power. But I do agree there are too few players for the positions that exist. As for talking about them in-character, I think everyone's too busy until the election is over for major government reform.

Speaking of the election, does anyone have those initial tracking polls?

well doesnt have to be the foreign leader but some kind of position in foreign affairs(not ambassador to brazil or something) that has some powers that can operate on his own sorta

Okay, let's make it official:

The new HJ Tulp (different name, same initials) is a LT COMMANDER. However his name has been put in for promotion and advancement. Some question whether this is out of deference to his uncle, but others say it is well deserved.

Whether his is promoted or not will depend on actions, etc. over the next 1-2 terms.
