Hehehe. I figured you would be all over that one. That Worker editorial about Langley's return may not have been your most scathing work ever, but it had to be close. Nice job. It's good to know Jake still can rile the left up.

The WHO people are your friends and are here to help tie this up. You've put a lot of work into this and even if you haven't quite resolved it, it shouldn't follow you (or the government) into another term. If all goes as planned, I'll be making a speech or even two tomorrow. My activity has been hampered, though, by my brother spending up to 3 hours a day on the computer looking at Science Forums and reading synopses of Star Trek episodes.

When I read the polls a few days ago, I was troubled by the good people in Jacobia who whined about how unemployment insurance doesn't exist.
I beg to differ. This from our Workers Bill of Rights:
VI. Employment Security and Benefits
1. Workers are entitled to fair and reasonable unemployment benefits. Unemployment Benefits are to be 75% of the average of individual's last year's wages if this average is less than 500% of the minimum wage. Unemployment Benefits are to be 50% of individual's last year's wages if this average is greater than 500% of the minimum wage.; they are paid for one year, at which point they are replaced by Social Aid. Unemployment benefits will have a maximum yearly payout of $40,000 per worker.

They are claiming the GENEROUS benefits apply only if working and that the debate over unemployment insurance, where MORE generous terms were talked about, seems forgotten.

Okay, now that I have gone back and re-read the section, it clearly doesn't say what I intended. Or at least, doesn't say it clearly.

Also, you caught that in some areas, people are blaming the poor economy on benefits being TOO generous, right? That some employers have had to lay people off because they can't afford the benefits?

Come on. Workers never complain they have too many benefits---unless they lose their jobs.
