Re: the splintering of the NPP, and Morgan's surprise at his campaign breakdown: I think they are the same crisis.

I think Morgan's big mistake was breaking away from the NPP, the only center-right party, and the only right party that might have affiliated with his lefty Monarch agenda. With Morgan and Langley not leading the party, the dissent directed at Morgan and Langley from outside the party made more sense to those still in the party, and thuis they had a political revolution of their own... IMHO.

I'd keep Jake Langley around. There's too much of this "new character" stuff which breaks continuity.

There's plenty of things you can do with him. He can return to being an advocate for the right, criticize the road to the centre that the right has taken, etc. And who knows, he may find some new allies to re enter politics with.

Welcome back Craig. Here's the rundown on the breakup of the NPP:

Jacob Lundgren was tired of Jacob Lundgren, and wanted a change of pace...or face. Charles Morgan was tired of being "saddled with the burden of being a partisan" (though John and Michael are now certain that a partisan label was the least of his worries) and decided to commit political suicide so that he could retire and write things in the hills. Jake Langley was tired of existing and vaporized. Michael and John, seeing themselves as, by now, the least controversial and most moderate members of what was left, were tired of taking heat for Morgan and Langley, and decided to reform to a more moderate position, much along the lines of Blade!'s ever so astute assessment.

Basically, we were left with the two of us, and decided to do the best we could with what we had...by moving back to the center, we can work with anybody now. Plus, it's more in tune with our personal ideologies anyway.

OPTION 2: Keep Jake Langley around and try to move him into the role of ex-president/elder statesman/media power player/politcal commentator. I don't see a party that Langley would fit in right now, and I don't want to start another clone of the EPP at this time - there are already enough small parties scrambling for support.

This option would let me further develop the Eutopian Tribune, and I think media is something this game is lacking compared to a few terms ago. I miss the media wars, and even more than that, I miss the comprehensive and well thought out coverage of the Daily Balance and to a lesser extent, the Gazette. I could also appear in other media outlets, make speeches, speak before the NA if invited, advise the new administration or the opposition depending on where Langley's sympathies lie.

We need a good media. And plus (as to your next comment), whoever said that newsmen don't get in political brawls? You see where it's gotten ME, and where Josephus has been--those aren't political brawls? Being a newspaperman was always bags of FUN--but then, so was being MDIA. I don't know which was funner.

Why are the eco-fascists called that? I can understand the Eco part of it, they are all hippies who want to be one with nature blah blah, but the fascist part? Fascist = someone or a group who advocate fascism, fascism in its modern sense (as in Nazi Germany, Musolini Italy, Franco Spain etc...) is a centralised government under a dictator, everything is controlled, society and economy etc... the opposition is supressed though violence or cencorship etc... and usually stronglt nationalistic and have racist leanings.

So what I get from that name is a bunch of hippies who want to live in the trees but centrally organised under one strong leader who controls everything who puts down any oposition to their ideals through violence etc... and they are nationalistic and a bit racist...
