I meant we might not have either of the two types of special torpedoes designed to be dropped from the air with programmable depth and direction settings and then the ability to home in either on the target's noise or echo's from active sonar from a buoy or your ship (the passive kind) or the echo from the torpedo's own active sonar (the active kind). Under the arms embargo, we might not have too many of those. They are different from normal ship or sub launched torpedoes, as they are supposed to be dropped almost on top of the target, they have much shorter range, which saves on weight, which is important for a chopper.HJ Tulp said:Wtf? Voshkod said:Of course, Joe could run as someone's VP (like Loic's) and, after a day or two, Loic could resign, resulting in the elevation of Joe back to the job. Of course, he'd have to win a special election after that, but there would have been a gap in an otherwise consecutive term of years.
I probably would have re-read the relevant sections before filing any papers. BTW, as you are now RP'ing law enforcement NPC's, just to tie up loose ends, Mel never got back to me on the results of two specifically requested search warrants that O'Floinn approved with conditions, one for the Beatnik Turtle where he specifically instructed that the disruption to his business be minimal. The other was a sealed search warrant regarding homes near the airport, for which I will forward you the PM I sent O'Floinn. His response required a specific report. I RP'ed a request for an update from FLEA prior to a meeting with O'Floinn in which he did indeed ask about them. I am not lobbying for any particular result, just for, if possible some closure. If there are just things that need to be swept away with the old, like the Oakleaf trial, then I would understand.The_Hawk said:No problem. Better now than after a lengthy and convoluted court case.![]()
Ah, you have spotted it as well or almost, so the cat is out of the bag. More effective (and what Loic whispered to the President) would be to have a sitting president resign just before the CRO filing deadline, and run for the next term. His VP would serve for the rest of the term as it would be close enough to the regular election not to require a special election. That way a president could serve say 33 months out of 36 of each term for as long as he could keep winning, there was a constitutional amendment, or he was deemed unable to serve by the council of state.Voshkod said:Of course, Joe could run as someone's VP (like Loic's) and, after a day or two, Loic could resign, resulting in the elevation of Joe back to the job. You're correct, Loic isn't. That is why the pre-election resignation works better. The worst the VP can do is not appoint the President to a cabinet post or mess up the Diamond office like PJ did.The_Hawk said:True, but I don't see Loic being Joe's fall guy. In fact, I don't think anyone who managed to win an election would be immediately willing to give it up for someone else.
Ooh! Three...now can anybody set a higher number for cliches wedged into a meaningful sentence?jacob-Lundgren said:yes but they also showed their hand and jumped the gun a bitmight end as a fatal mistake
