The Minister's phone rings. In the background, he can hear the noises of a ship at sea. "Sir? This is Captain Reily of the Levarge. We're the cutter on station off Longarm, and I'm the Principal Government Official on site for the civilian response. We've got the booms up at sea and are containing the oil pretty well, but the FLEA folks won't let anyone on site to start containing the leaking tanks. I've got oil and worse stuff getting into the groundwater, and I've told the mayor of Farpoint to issue a boil water alert. We need access to the site, sir, or we're going to lose some more tanks."

I hate to say this, but you CAN'T have a ground water issue if you are at sea. You could pollute the ocean/sea, but you can't get to ground water. You could say it is threatening a river's outlet, but unfortunately while it sounds good, you can't have the ground water threatened from sea. It's not environmentally feasible. Farpoint wouldn't have to boil water. They are inland, not a port town.

You are correct; but a refinery on land, near the ocean, can threaten both. Which is the case in Longarm. You've got runoff entering the water, and seeping into the ground.

Something I want to make clear; when a bureaucrat gives you his or her opinion on something, and presents a potential course of action, do not assume that what they tell you is the only course of action available, or that the information they provide is necessarily accurate. NPCs do not speak with the gravitas of a mod; most of them have their own agendas and interests that they are trying to pursue.

Do you really think the GM corps would pass on such an opportunity? Rest assured; if it passes, it will be a big event, and everyone can campaign about it.

I hope that the Fiendish Mod Corps decide that the outcome is a lanslide "No" and the issue is settled forever. But I don't have much faith in that, the aftermath of the vote will be hell.

I expect the GM Corps has an idea or will decide where things are before the campaign, and will consider the volume and efficacy of the the campaigning to determine what percentage votes for it. Of course, since a slim to modest majority for the referendum is most interesting, that may be the default choice, as it would stimulate more interesting activity afterwards.

Based off what the hospice nurses have told us to expect and how my mom has been the past 18 hours I think we are at the last couple of days. Going to retire ML and be back sometime this month with a new character. Good luck with things here, I be trying to stay read up on events.
