After spending most of yesterday evening grappling with securing a venue for the debates, vS showed up and solved it in about ten minutes.

Something I'd like to make clear about SIGs. Not all SIGs will make public endorsements. Some of them will only play behind the scenes, quietly urging their membership to vote for a certain party. The four public announcements were for groups that have made up their minds early, for one reason or the other. And endorsements have been retracted on very rare occassions . . . .
Craig, not sure what you've missed, so I'll give you the brief history. Term XI ended with a military coup by General Levarge. The players were - for the most part - driven out of the country during a few (real-time) weeks of transition.
Levarge's coup encompasses Term XII. He slashed the military, switched the economy over to the dollar, and made nice with the Americans, getting the embargo finally lifted. He announced a referendum on democracy - basically, vote to keep him or for free elections. The "keep Levarge" vote was doing well when he was assassinated. That was game start for Eutopia 4.
The game started with a Constitutional Convention, where some issues were hammered out, and went right into the election season we're now in. The FAQ has changed a bit, so I'd recommed reading it before jumping back in.

I'm definately going to retire Jake this time around. He had a good ride, but its time to move on. I'm debating going with a far right, militant, nationalist type or something closer to my own views (which isn't too far from where Langley ended up in the game). Still, I gotta get up to speed first.

Mel, good to see you involved on the political side of things again. I have to say that no matter what side of the fence your character takes, you do it in an absolutely convincing manner.
That said, I think Colin Leary would like to talk with the Liberty Party, but I can't seem to find a party communications office thread.

Ok, folks, it's less than an hour until debate kickoff (again, 7pm EST). I think I've seen everyone who's sent me a PM come through the venue at this point. Anyone who hasn't dropped me a line but still intends to show up, I will be monitoring my Inbox now and throughout the debate. (Anyone who wants to show up late, that's your cue to stay interested.)
As a note, I currently haven't heard from any MRP or PoL members. CA, if you can stick around and Mel can wave you into the party, I have no problem if you want to represent the PoL, even though you can't actually vote this election and would have to wing the party platform. Still, probably better than being unrepresented.

Thanks the mods for hosting the debate. It was fun, but I need to learn to type faster or have prepared the initial responses, but alas, no time.
