We've argued about the Property Defence Rights Act Bill. I proposed an amendment which condensed the bill to 5 lines and removed any reference to property, Aussieboy stuck a property clause in as a compromise measure, nobody but the ELP liked it and it's looking like the vote on it will be defeated, mabus put forward an amendment which took the original version as its basis, we argued some more over that.

Meanwhile, discussions are underway with regard to aid to New Bengal. This is shaping up to be a major battleground because the right want to cut social spending to fund it and the left are obviously enough opposed to that.

I don't know about the Right (or the Right in general, if you want to include the PL in that category), but the PL's position - at least as Jerome understands and presents it - is not (and has never been) to simply cut social spending in favour of New Bengal, but to look at whether there is room for cuts in social spending or other specified areas to fund reconstruction. Although the underlying suspicion clearly is that there is such room. And yes, the PL would cut social spending at the drop of a hat if it only had the chance. :D

In any case, when Jerome took the PL's New Bengal proposal to Glasser, he very deliberately couched it in a way that was intended to signal (without him actually having to come out and say it) (a) that there could be ways for Labour to preserve current social spending levels, and (b) that this could be done in a way that could be sold to the other parties. The aim here being to ensure that everybody would be, if not happy, then at least reasonably satisfied with the final reconstruction package. Unfortunately (at least Jerome thinks it's unfortunate), the ELP decided not to pick up on that and Glasser didn't continue the conversation, so that little ploy went nowhere. :)

I thought Jerome was simply being (too) obscure. :p He's usually not all that great at subtletly, in case no-one had noticed. :D ;)

I feel bad that you offered to resign after I had already signed the warrant. All Glasser wanted was for you to resign and to put the whole affair behind him.

Sorry for the recent inactivity guys...I'm in the middle of a week of job interviews, and they're (along with my normal workload) wreaking havoc on my schedule. Additionally, the GMs are trying to knock out a few big "old business" projects that require a lot of work (yes, including *that* one, before you ask) so we may be a bit sluggish. Try to play with each other for a while until we're back to full strength. :)

As for Asre/Glasser...it's Hawk's law, so I may be misinterpreting it (fully possible, as I don't have a copy in front of me right now) but it is President Glasser's authority which drives any case. If Glasser makes a deal with Asre, even at this late stage, he can still drop the charges.

And by the way, I know I've threatened it before, but the Cojuanco amendment is where I'm going to show I'm serious...if I don't see any guidance in the Caucuses (which you're all cluttering with stuff that should be in your HQ) I'm going to have your whole party abstain.

Backbencher instructions in the Caucus, chit-chat in the HQs. Instructions in the caucuses have really trailed off lately, and it makes it a lot harder on us to cast the backbencher votes.

So use your Caucus, or we're going to see 3 for, 8 against, and 89 abstaining on this bill (or whatever the player vote count is at right now).

I like Egotistical Naysayers Party.

Are we running on a definite schedule with elections and whatnot? I ask because I was checking the Speaker's office and noticed how few of the bills in there we've got through. Obviously some debates will go more quickly and obviously we won't get through absolutely everything, but at present pace next term's bills are just going to be this term's bills resubmitted.
