This week's featured athlete is Eutopia’s first professional athlete, Daniel Archer.

Playing for the Cincinnati Red Stockings from 1932-6, Daniel had the notable distinction of playing in the first night game, a game he went 1-4. A lifetime .235 hitter, Daniel was instead known for his great defense at both shortstop and second base. As a boy Daniel played cricket until he learned baseball from a visiting American relative. Addicted to the game, Daniel played several years of semi-pro ball in the United States, until he was finally signed by the Red Stockings. To help support himself Daniel also worked as door-to-door salesman selling everything from bibles to razors. After being released in 1936, Daniel returned to Eutopia where died in 1967 at the age of 65.

This week's featured athlete is Cathrine (de LaVos) Johnson.

Cathrine, known to many as the mother of Eutopian sports, immigrated with the first group of Spanarids to Eutopia when she was 2. Her family was a struggling working class family, and Cahtrine would have likely led a life of poverty if it weren't for her meeting of Lance Johnson, a minor, but rich, Eutopian noble. Once married Cathrine devoted hereslf to sports, arranging for the building of tennis, rugby, and other facilities throughout the island, inlcuding The Courts of New Lancaster, the longest continually used outdoor courts in the world.

This week’s featured athlete is Bobby Philson. Bobby was born in Eutopia City in a family of eight in 1927. Needing money one summer as a teenager, Bobby decided to become a life guard. This was the start of a life long affinity Bobby had for swimming. Bobby became the first Eutopian to swim the English Channel, which he did at age 33. He also held the record, for a short time, of being the oldest person to swim the Channel when he did so at age 50. Bobby died in 2000 at age 73.
