From the EJA archives:
Here is my proposal for party debates. Each national party will select a represenative. A neutral moderator (probably Blade) will ask the questions. Each rep will respond and then be given an opportunity to question-rebuttal-ask for a clarification from their opponents. The questioned opponents can then respond and that question will be over. Rinse and repeat.
OOC: Basically Blade will post the question, each rep says blah blah. Once everyone has posted, the debators can then go at it.
Sample:
Question 1: blah blah
rep 1: yadda yadda
rep 2: yadda yadda
Debate Phase 1:
Rep 1: Rep 2 said, "yadda yadda." this is ridiculous because blah blah
Debate Phase 2:
Rep 1: Rep 2 has attacked my policies by stating, "blah blah" this is ludicrious because of yadda yadda.
Question 2:
And so on.
The pluses are it lets the debators actually debate a little and get into it. The downside is everyone would have to be on at the same time. I'm pretty sure Mel, Josephus, Heagarty, and myself are all in similar time zones. I don't know if the CRE has someone on this side of the Atlantic. Though they should be able to get one volunteer to stay up late for the debate.
