My negotiations with the RF have reached their climax. They have three requests; 1st that we change our platform to fully endorse the monarchy. 2nd that we pledge that our first action will be to have a referendum on the monarchy and 3rd, I regret, that Zhokhyen gets no role in our government.

What are the feelings? Is it a price we are willing to pay?

First of all, welcome to all the new members.
Regarding the RF: i'm sorry, but as long as this party is the Eutopian Nationalist Party, and not the Royal Foundation Party, i won't let my actions dictated by them. Compromise sometimes it's useful, but this is unconditioned surrender.
I can (as i already said during my speeches) acknowledge the referendum promise. But 1st and 3rd point are against my views.
However, if the majority of the ENP party decides to accept that dictat, i will accept that decision and present my resignation without ill-feelings.

Well, as much as I ardently desire a monarchy, I feel that insisting that Mr. Zhokhyen not run for office is a little unreasonable. Their position on that feels like a personal vendetta rather than thought-out policy.

And welcome to our new members.

How about we strike this as a compromise position;

First, we commit ourselves to making a referendum on the monarchy our first act.

Second, we outline our belief in the necessity of a strong, non-partisan, unifying Head of State (whether that be monarch, or something else, let's keep it ambiguous)

But third, we emphasise that we as a party are a broad-church and as such will not tolerate authoritarian acts such as preventing Per Zhokhyen from entering Government. Surely it is at the heart of a good constitutional monarchy to tolerate dissent and try to persuade dissenters of its merit.

If they asked only the first two demands we could consider. But there is no point trying to get their votes if they're insisting their votes not even be for the man we've nominated for president.

That looks quite good, Mrs. Faulkner.

How does the Royal Foundation feel about Tilapia/New Bengal (where the current monarch is Maria's daughter)? Reunification is a good issue for us, the Labour Party in the debates didn't express as much ambition toward it.

Mrs. Faulkner brings up a good point. I, myself, am a Republican, but agree that if the Monarchy is what the majority of the party wants, then I'll keep my mouth shut, for the good of the outfit. It is indeed a ridiculous point to try to strong-arm us like that. Those ideologues at the RF are truely underserving of our support. I for one refuse to deal with them, besides the monarchy-divide. And justa friendly reminder to those of you left, VOTE!!!

Mmmhh...as some interested observer pointed out, haven't our campaign pointed too much towards abortion?

Secondly, Mrs. Faulkner, your idea of proposing a strong head of state could be a bit too "extreme", if not associated with the idea of a Monarch, i think. It's a bit "out of nowhere", if you understand what i mean...

Well, we might as well give up on the RF. I don't understand why they'd go so far as to endorse the Labor Party just because they dislike us. Oh well, they're the ones that will be reincarnating into slugs, not me.

The army people appear to be on our side, and I would guess we're on the gun enthusiasts' good side after the gun question in the debates, the Von Streusser Report seems to imply.

Were are my manners? Per Khochandas, I am Colonel Harrison William Bradstreet, Deputy Chair of the Nationalist Party, and a Legislative Candidate. Welcome to the ENP. If there is anything you need, please, feel free to ask. As for the abortion issue, it was a small speach to a group of Christians. That is the only speech I've given on the subject and the only one I intend to give.

We are the only monarchist party in Eutopia. And if the RF is too pig-headed to acknowledge that once the referendum goes before the voters, we're the only ones who are actually going to campaign for it, then so be it. I trust that the majority of monarchist voters are smarter than the RF.

I've never had any sympathy for the RF anyway...

Hear, hear. Monarchist I may be, but if I may say so Her Majesty's being an arsehole. Perhaps we could seat another candidate...

Her Majesty has been an arsehole for the past twenty-five years. No worries, eventually she'll kick the bucket. But we do have to make sure the amendment clearly states that she has no temporal power.

Well, I have a proposal for a plan once a constitutional monarchy is in place: The RF land will revert to the state, and then we could give land at low prices to entrepreneurs and such. They will be free to do what they want with it, so long as they hand over some profit to the government.

Or we could seize it under eminent domain and begin the process of land reform.

How much land is there left after all the oil stuff?

Note that going after the land--although I heartily support it--would be an essential declaration of war against the RF.

But if we do proceed in that direction, the land issue needs to be in the text of the amendment itself.

We should renegotiate it with the US. Fourgeres was a fool for being a US puppet, and we could void the treaty on the grounds of it being under duress.

Not as good as we could have hoped, giving our seeming numerical superiority. But a good show overall--and I take full responsibility for not making it a better one. Shame the ENP did so well, depriving our friends in the PoL of the Finance ministry...but ah well.

But now matters turn to the initial politicking of the term.

Mr. Zhokhyen was our choice for President, and Mr. Smith was our choice for the Ministry of the Interior. If there are no objections, I will submit these as our official choices.

As for the Assembly, everyone in the party except myself, the President, and the Minister of the Interior (all of whom are Constitutionally barred from serving) will be in the Assembly, unless they say so otherwise.

As for the Vice-Presidency, Col. Bradstreet, are you still up for the post (if not, I'm more than willing to go for it)? If we get the support of the PoL, that gives us 49 seats. They might feel they deserve it for themselves, as they sort of got gypped out of a seat in the Cabinet--but considering that we're twice as large as they are, I think we can lay down the terms a bit. And I'm sure we can help support some of their pet projects, give em a couple Deputy posts--as we are rather close to each other on economic policies, after all. The remaining two seats...well, I'm sure we can get a couple MRP members to support us over whoever the ELP puts up.
