We have 28 seats in the General Assembly. Many of the back benchers are relatively new to the dynamics of getting things done in a pluralistic legislature, with no one party having a majority. Some have done well, and are thriving. Others are in over their heads, and would probably welcome a different role. I am sure we can arrange to have you take the place of one of the latter group. It is up to the party leader to make the arrangements, but I imagine that will be forthcoming.

Interesting question, one I will now answer.

If I have our party's support. I will make a run for President of Eutopia. Though I may not be most qualified (that would go to either Major Braxton or Per Gonzov) I do believe I have been one of the more vocal and public figures of the party.

Yes, we could certainly do with a more open and communcative President than the incumbent. I expect we will run for all five offices, and as no party won more than two last time, three would be a significant landslide. We will have to see what ones we want to concentrate on. Putting President at the top would make sense, given the abilty to shape the budget debate, and thereby fix some the wrongs being perpetrated now.

Once we figure out the order, we will want to identify to the electorate who will be our normal candidate to be appointed if the office is won. Those individuals will have to campaign extra hard.

Very interesting, for I have the same ambitions. Though I would not want to harm the party over a petty leadership contest.

I would not be a candidate for President. We don't need to decide now. Obviously if one or the other distinguishes himself between now and then, that will help both the party and help their case.

Colin Leary has proposed something cutting back on the rights of workers. It doesn't say what is left out. Does anyone have a copy of what the rules are currently?

My activity in the General Assembly has caused me to neglect my church. That is my first calling. I therefore wish to resign from my seat in the General Assembly. Please appoint someone (OOC: an NPC) to take my place. I do this with regret, but my flock (OOC: RL job) comes first.

Given the departure of our party chairman, Alaster Cain, I am willing to serve in that capacity on an interim basis. The job doesn't seem to require much time and it would allow Mr. Gonzov to continue to serve as our Senior Legislator. Is that agreeable to you, Alexi?

von Hapsburg walks in, in a greatcoat. At first the secretary thinks he is a proletarian of some sort, but to her surprise, he takes off his coat to reveal a shabby suit.
A message is sent, in all confidentiality:

To Chairman. Plan to leave ENP. Plan to join ELP. Keep Quiet. Do not make public yet. von Hapsburg.

The President finally noticed that the Ministers of Finance and Interior are missing, and the court agreed with him. We have the power to name someone to replace the Minister of Finance. It cannot be our Senior Legislator. Any volunteers? Speak up within (RL 48 hours) or you will miss your chance.

I see that our soon-to-be Von Hapsburg is applying for the Ministry of Interior.

"We ought to give him a test to see if he really has the beliefs of a politician from a Labor Party," wisecracks the party leader, who then adds "but as a member of the ENP he could get appointed Minister of the Interior, as it is that party that gets the first chance to appoint the replacement Minister of the Interior. Considering that their party leader made him publicly apologize, I assume he is their last choice, and would only be appointed if they couldn't come up with anyone else."

To avoid the loss of the position, since no one else has come forward, I will take the Ministry of Finance post myself. If anyone qualified comes forward later, then I will resign and appoint them. I am only willing to do this due the proximity of the election.

Senior Legislator Gonzov, perhaps you might have a chat with John O'Floinn of the MRP. Between us we have a lot of votes, but few notable leaders. If your views and his could be reconciled, then it might work. If not, then it couldn't, so it is better if you decide whether to open negotiations or not, and then see if they get anywhere.
