We need to discuss about the situation. If I'm not wrong, the FR has won the elections (and seeks for a larger coalition?). Will we just wait till the government is formed and begins its work, or must we already press with our claimings?

oh and there's is the internal election thing too.
we have only one proposal at the moment : a ticket with me as spokesman, and IKK as vice-spokesman. We will vote for our internal rules too

About the goverment Jacob is the President, MMDS will be MHSA.
I will be METI ( hurray, hurray ). Jools will be a minister of some thing and one place is still left

Because of my Appoinmen as Minister of Economy Trade and Infrastructure, I can not continue to be the vice-spokeman of this union. So I will not enter the elections. I hope you and the future Vice will do a great job.
Of cource I will continue as a member of the ECL but only as a member.




I hope that we the "reopenig" of the union and with more memberes of the ESRP, I'm sure more members will enter our great union

IKK has brought it to my attention that this organization might want to discuss something with me or bring proposals to me or information or a combination of the above. i have not had much time to keep up with events here but anything that the workers desire to discuss i am able to meet with them here or at the government office(government thread)

Mr. President I'm still the vice-spokeman of this oraganization but I will not act was one, because of my position of METI. I will respond simply was a member.

Our spokeman is sick in his bed this is why he hadent answer you, I hope you understand.

Our primary mission was a pro-worker organization is to defend the workers, but we understand that some thing must be done first that other and because we understand we don't have a ilimited budget.

But the spokeman will speak soon was his health gettes better

Kenny I am willing to be more active in this orgainziation from now on. And will accept your nomination for vice-spokesman....with one concern. I may have a conflict of interest. My chief concern is my Party, the ESRP. In any discussion about this organization's platform, and voting preferences, I will never stray from my Party's position. If that is acceptable to the other members here, then i accept.

I must Know that is Organization without any party afiliation. And you can't comprimise this organization because you are in a Party. If that don't happen I see no problem about you being vice.

But we need to vote first ( wait for Pero ) before you became vice, so you will be like a pre-vice-spokeman

And I ask you do start talking with the president using that position okay?

I'll make an address to the president ASAP in the government section thread

about the elections, I'd like every member could participate in, but we probably can't wait, since the gov't is beginning its work, we need to be present
(I've no news about Nominoé; Apebe is back on the forums but doesn't seem to be willing to play EUtopia again?)
So since we both 3 agree about Josephus' candidacy, may I declare the results of the elections? * prepare to throw confetti*

Josephus, about your opinions, the ECL doesn't mind if these are party's ones or not. They are your opinions and you have the right to defend them inside the Congress
But if you have dissents with the platform, please discuss them with the other members. Since it has been elaborated at the time when we were only two members in the org', we need it to be really supported by all of of the ECLers (err at least 3 of us). It would be embarrassing for our partners to hear different versoins of our demands during the negociations...

oh and don't forget to sign as vice-spokesman when you play as such, in order that other players don't confuse with your other responsabilities

Thanks for your vote of approval. There is little I am in disagreement with so far. This organization stands for workers' rights, and I am in full support of this. I have been away from this thread for a short time, so give me a day to get up to speed and i'll give you my full thoughts then.

I have gone over the minutes of all the Union's minutes and generally am impressed with your ideas so far, and generally do not plan to upset anything.

I think what we should do is do things step by step. That is, let us pick three of the most important isssues on the agenda and bring those up to the President--we shouldn't bombard him with a whole lot of stuff at once.


Minimum wage is key. There probably already is one, though, isn't there? In which case we should push for an increase.

A universal pension plan. Isn't there one already? My idea for this is to strongly encourage companies to start company pension plans in addition to a State-sponsored Pension Plan. [Canada's system]j. In addition, retired people whose yearly income (from Government Plan and other Plans] is LESS than a target amount get a bonus.

The Xmas Subsidy. I'm in favour of it but it doesn't HAVE to be a Xmas subsidy. Any company can chose a specific time of year to give its employees a bonus.

Such examples can be:
Employee's Birthday
Xmas
Summer Holiday
etc.

One other thing and I'm not sure we've discussed this here, is Maternity Leave. What are your views.

Josephus, I think you are right about concentrating our demands
I'll propose to the minister to make multiple rouds. The first one should concern the wages. We may combine this sort of discussions with ones that the govt or the entrepreneurs possibly would be on the verge to ignore otherwise (workers rights for instance). I wait your opinion and IKK's before engaging the discussions with the Ministery

*About the "doesn't it exist already" thing, I've asked the GM to make a description of EUtopian economics, and this since the beginning of the game. Nothing came out, so we've assumed that EUtopian social affairs were at the lower range possible (->the best way to not forget anything)
*About company pensions, we must be aware that at any rate they could replace the role of the state pensions; they are just a "plus"
*Xmas subsidy is just the occasion to make a yearly subsidy. Many workers (even the non christian ones) spend a lot of money at this moment for their families, so it seemed to be the best time for that. But you can call it "December subsidy" if you prefer
*Maternity leave. What do you mean with that? The time women are allocated at each birth (in France, the fathers have a few days leave too), or the time that is counted for their pension rights, age of retirement, and so and so?

First off is that I think the best person to talk to in government, besides I Killed Kenny would be the VP Murmurandus. He seems very approachable and likely to consider our ideas.

I agree. Let's propose a minimum wage and mandatory workers rights such as:

The right to paid leave
The right to paid sick leave
The right to breaks
The right to a safe work environment
The right to non-discrimination (race, sexuality, etc.)
The right to refuse a dangerous job with no repercussion
The right to religious holidays (ie Rosh Hashanah for Jews etc.)

and any other ones we can think of. In fact it might be a good idea for us to come up with a Workers Bill of Rights and send that to the government. What do you think?

As regards, maternity leave. Yes, what you said. My belief is that a mother should have anywhere from nine-months to one-year leave after having a child. She could chose to share some of this with her husband (or the child's father). The state will subsidize a certain amount (75%?) of her wages for this time period. This amount comes out of a general Unemployment Insurance deduction from the pay cheque.

I'm not going to make too much noise about the Xmas Bonus. I'll agree to it here.

Having said what I said, it dawns on me that Murmurandus does not have legislative powers (unless our President Jacob where to die, say,by a car bomb or something. So, it is probably best to speak with our President or a member of Parliament.

Here's what I plan. Let's draft and approve a Bill of Worker's Rights. Pass it on to the President to make it law. If he doesn't then we'll know where he stands.

how would this suite the ECL:
i am not a member of the parties you mainly expect support from/ would vote for. MMDS probably has better connections and would be more welcome here anyways so he spends his time here and can fill a report ( in pm that i will respond to) everynight and he and i can discus your talks and discussions and work out a new workers plan for parliment to vote on. if he is away for a day or so you can work with me and if i am away for a day or so he is acting president so it again works easy.
