Amric's secretary rings back. "Got it. They said he's still in surgery...fractured skull, possible brain hemorrhage, broken jaw, lots of blood loss, severe concussion. Your name gets a lot done around here; I talked to one of the nurses who had been working on him and was taking a breather. She said that the neurosurgeon has been picking cable filaments out of his brain for the last hour...not a lot of damage, but it's delicate work. They say they can't give a prognosis until after surgery is over, and that could be several hours from now; they say he needs a lot of work."

At the cleanup site, the foreman reports that everything is proceeding as normal. The fans are in place and dispersing the fumes, and they've begun digging. A couple body parts have turned up so far, but no live ones yet. They haven't found the break yet, but are casting a pretty wide net to be sure to get all the possible pockets it could have leaked to.

If you and your team go around and TELL people what you have seen here it will get around. Media is only a small part of what happens in a nation. A groundswell of public opinion that is NOT influenced by the media is a priceless thing. Your media may be here taking pictures, and my media may be doing so as well. But for those who are HERE....well they have stories that cannot be duplicated or bettered by the media.

They say a picture is worth a thousand words. Well the STORY from those who were here and witnessed the horrors and can relate them are worth a thousand pictures. Believe me, Captain. I have a newspaper. It is a media outlet. The pen is mightier than the sword. The verbal word is more powerful than pictures taken by those who are not directly involved.

By the way, I just received word from Eutopia General. Your Colonel has been in surgery and still is. The Doctor is picking bits of cable out of his brain. He's sustained a lot of blood loss, a possible brain hemorrage, a broken jaw, and a concussion. They can't give me much more until he is out of surgery and then they can give me a prognosis on his recovery.

He's still alive, and they have a great doctor working on him. I'll put out a call for blood donors, like I did before for the victims of the bombing. I'm sure there will be quite a few people who will come forward to donate blood to help him in his recovery.

My foreman also reports that they have found no live victims, only a couple of body parts. Things are going as well as can be expected."

Well, the ledning rate is specified, but I would like to have the deposit and real rate aswell. Also I would like to have a world with Sir Greenbridge about those rates, how can we in these days have interest rates on 13%! Compare that to these lending rates from 2002.

USA - 4.7
UK - 4.0
France - 6.6
Spain - 4.3
Canada - 4.2
Sweden 5.8

etc

When we com up above 10% we are talking about african underdeveloped countries.

"The reason our rates are not the same as western developed countries such as the UK, US, or France is because we have nothing close to their economy. Our economy is still primarily on a resource production level. Additionally, we are in a recession, we are combatting high inflation, government budgets and spending are still uncertain, and the ECB bombing has made investors skittish and the markets chaotic. Immediately after the bombing, there was very nearly a panic sell which was barely contained and kept the markets at the point they are, rather than even higher.

Yes, rates are higher than western industrialized nations, but we are not a western industrialized nation. Perhaps they are similar to an underdeveloped African nation...and perhaps we are too. The rate across the board is 13%. I advise you to deal with the situation rather than crowing to me about its injustice. I wish it were lower as well, but we have to do what we must."

I have never mentioned injustice, I just simply wanted a short explanation to those high interests, which you just gave to me. So I guess I'll have to be satisfied with that Mr Greenbridge.

Quite a few hours had passed since Moonbucks had delivered the coffee and other sundries. Amric paced along a couple of hundred feet from the work site, taking phone calls from his secretary and doing some business as he waited to hear the latest report on how things were going to pump out the gasoline and the final bit of clean up.

The crew manages to pump out the gasoline and vapors without incident, and the rest of the rescue and cleanup effort proceeds about as smoothly as could be expected.

Amric nods," So how long do you expect it to be until we are done here and the relief efforts can continue unhampered?"

One of the relief coordinators speaks with Amric. "The gas station is apparently all cleared up, so I think your boys are done for now. If we need anything else, we'll be in touch with you, but for now, I think we can get back to the business of searching that area for survivors...or remains, as the case probably is by now."

Amric nods, and speaks to his men," Okay, gentlemen. I believe we have it all done now. Excellent job. Let's move the pumped out gas in the trucks and get out of the way of these brave men."

He turns back and salutes those ready to get back to work," You have done a fantastic job so far and I applaud your dedication and bravery."

He waves and steps up into the cab of the first tanker truck and the small group of trucks move off slowly to allow those in the relief effort to get back to work.

The Monetary Policy Board of the Eutopian Central Bank has met for the first time since the recent attack. An official announcement will follow shortly regarding current economic indicators and any necessary rate changes to react to those indicators.
