Good, good. After the denunciation, here was the confess of using warez material and now the accusation? Finally, this QpQ made big waves...

Come on, be serious. Is it a circus?

There is the point
The guy, maybe, own the game. Special action will be made (and should too) to prevent proliferation of pirated EU. Fine! Great! It's the thing to do. You're right denuncing this guy.

But all the rest is necessary? You should become actors!

A bit exageration...

Once in my lifetime i have seen such stupidity before: when one guy came to Arcanum's official forum asking for warez beta.
Aside from the fact that he is personally screwing all the EU developers when getting illegal copy (sure, he'll buy it.. maybe), but coming to official forum to ask help??? Is this stupid or what??? Errr... actually no, calling him stupid will instult the stupid people.

Oh, and Sapura, i have a problem... i can't break the copy-protection or whatever the stuff is and so i can't burn the EU CD. How on earth can i burn my friends a copy then? Please help??? :D

Let's see dimbulb (that'd be you, Sapura), is there a demo for this game? No... very good, here's a cookie. Now you are telling this guy, sitting on the fence that doesn't know whether he'll hate this game or not and you want to make him spend his $40 to find out? It may not have been the best thing to do; it may not have been right; it may not have been smart; but I can see why he did it, and if he says he'll buy the game, then I believe him. I tend to trust my fellow man. You should learn that.

or may not have been perfect with regards to pirated software

Admittance of hypocrisy! Do as I say, not as I do, eh? Somehow I expected that from you.

But all the rest is necessary? You should become actors!

A bit exageration...

Hear, Hear!

This ****ing Spanish Inquisition is uncalled for!

Even so a person who once was a 'user' of warez, and learnt from his mistakes still has a right to have a say. People who learn from their mistakes and have seen both sides of the issue should be allowed to express themselves.

It's the same in other areas, an ex-drug addict would have a lot of valid points to put across to a drug user to stop him going down the same stupid path he had to.

Doesn't excuse the hypocrisy. A parent telling his kid not to use drugs, even though he himself did it is not someone that I uphold.

Same deal with the 1st World nations saying we industrialized and caused lots of pollution, now there is too much pollution, so you 3rd World nations will have to do a MUCH more expensive industrialization.

Unfair.

'Admittance of hypocrisy! Do as I say, not as I do, eh? Somehow I expected that from you.'

Eh? Have you been smoking something? I answered all of your questions directly and truthfully. You never asked me whether I used to, or ever did download software of the internet.

As for a demo, thats one of the standard excuses of leechers of the internet: 'bu-but but it has no demo, I just wanted to see if it was good!'.

a) you have previews / reviews in mags
b) you have friends / relatives who have bought the game you can try it on their pc'.s
c) you have the individual recommendations / criticism of people on forums such as these.
d) you have (if lucky) the chance to try the game out on pc's in store 'demos'
e) you have the chance to RENT the game out and see how it plays (at least here in Australia).

While 5-6 years ago I would have thought exactly the same as you do now. No DEMO, well THAT gives me the right to 'TEST' it out.. for 6 months!

Well, lets see, you HAVE Downloaded games (from what I gather). I've never done so. The most I've done is borrow games (which I don't think is far from warez, but what have you), and I think that this guy doesn't deserve this treatment for his actions! Why do YOU think he does, when you used to do it?

Well I've never pirated any games whatsoever. However, after having bought CTP II and then being told that they wouldn't make any more patches despite many bugs and a completely nonfunctional mutliplayer I almost wish I had :(
Anyway, EU obviously isn't like that as I can see from the improvements made in the 1.07(b) patch. But now I have to wait for the end of the month to get my preordered game and if I had a chance to get an English copy of the game now I'd definately leap at the chance, especially since I've already paid Paradox for the game :)

He deserves the exact same criticism I should have received when I acted in the same way as he is right now.

I'm 21 right now, when 'started' when I was 14 and did it for about a year. I was as impatient as he was, never thinking about anyone else except myself. I treated this as 'a victimless crime', which in fact it was not. I was young, stupid, silly and thought that 'one person' couldn't really make too much damage in regards to the industry. However it's always that extra one that amounts to the 90 million losses in revenue for the developers every 6 months or so.

However, the games that I did 'download' of the internet, I have subsequently bought as originals because I thought it was the right thing to do. Nevertheless I bought them a very long time after downloading them, when they had already lost much of their original price.

Jeez, you sound like this is like drug use :D. 'Victimless crime' :D. (btw, I'm against the drug war, that propaganda won't work on me :D) Well, it kind of is.. you know how many games get DLed from warez? A whole Hell of a lot. And maybe you drove this guy away. Maybe instead of getting it, he'll just play this because people he asked for help were utter assholes to him.

Should people told him it was wrong? Yes... in the manner it was done? HELL NO!

What if he preordered it? Then he DLed it? Didn't he already pay? Shouldn't he be allowed?

So let's imagine i'm going to buy your car next week. But just to make sure that it works as fine as it looked to be working on test-drive, i just steal it one night. Nevermind, i'll buy it next week anyway, so why not steal it?
Same logic goes for computer software as well.

'Maybe instead of getting it, he'll just play this because people he asked for help were utter assholes to him.'

Well, that is your viewpoint. Others may see you as being an a$$hole as well as him for agreeing with the way he operates. OK, so he'll never turn up here again and won't buy an original.

The chances of him doing that were at best marginal as before. Mate, do you think companies would care if people leeched games of the 'net, BUT THEN decided to buy them? Fact is the majority don't give a fudge (i.e. like I was once) at all and will never buy the original, EVEN if they liked it.

There is a 'minority' of 'knightly' leechers (who see it as their crusade to spread it across the net, usually groups such as PWA and so on) who actually DO BUY originals if they like the game, and delete the pirate version within a few days or a week.

However, this is a _VERY_ small minority.

'Should people told him it was wrong? Yes... in the manner it was done? HELL NO!'

LOL, for God sakes man! Do you realise what he did? He came onto a developer's forum, demanded people not SPAM _HIM_ because he has a warez version and then asked for help because his save files wouldn't work? Do you think we (or at least me) should have treated him with kid gloves?

'What if he preordered it? Then he DLed it? Didn't he already pay? Shouldn't he be allowed?'

Umm .. (goes to get a panadol)..Yes, let's ask Paradox, shouldn't he be allowed! Oh the humanity! :D

Obviously you didn't read the post at all, and jumped on the bandwagon of insultation. He asked why he couldn't save... simply answer, because it won't let you.

Hjarg, you can test drive a car, right? That's all I have to say about that.

Well, you can see screenshots, read prewievs and reviews and if your friend has purchased it, you get to try it in his place as well.
And if you don't get to test-drive, you steal the car? Or just buy something else?
I am going to buy original without playing the demo/warez/whatever. Just because I belive it is a good game and worth buying. And i have no temptation to run to warez site... i can wait for couple of weeks more. Why- because i don't steal. Simple as that.

Oh, and if you get the warez/pirate version, you at least shouldn't expect customer support. Even if it is an answer to a simple question.

Jeez man! He's gonna get the Freaking game! It is uptight self-righteous assholes like yourself which make people like this not care if they don't pay for the game!

Man, you aren't allowed to save in the tutorial..

How many times have YOU created or built something and had someone just walk in and take it without asking? If you actually thought about what pirating means --theft-- you wouldn't be sympathetic, unless you're a thief, too. If I want a car, but can't afford it, do I take it anyway while making a note to myself to pay when I get the money?

Yeah, how many times have I heard THAT one? BTW, how did you know you can't save in the tutorial?
