That’s right, Paradox Forums; it’s time for another Kaiserreich AAR! This time, it’s The Ukraine by a guy who has never gotten an AAR past one update! Will The Ukraine be able to find peace between Khrushchev’s Commune-pro faction, or will the German-installed Hetman be able to rule the agricultural nation for a bit longer? You, and I, will find these out in the coming days (provided I can even finish this thing)
Backround: I’ve been wanting to do an AAR for a while, I’ve tried in both Arma and Europa Universalis III and neither time has gone well. However, a year in my school’s newspaper staff and AAR’s like Falconette’s Darkest Hour of the Russian Empire and Gort11’s For Blighty and a Good Cup of Tea! (although I fear the latter has gone the way of my AARs) have inspired me to try my hand at the AAR game again. Anyhoo, I choose Kaiserreich since it is the first Offical Mod of the Month and arguably the best total conversion ever released for Hearts of Iron II, and The Ukraine as my country since they’re in a very interesting spot, dealing with a potentially revanchist Russia outside and socialist agitators inside. My love of Eastern European culture and a lack of AARs on the country also helped.
Details: The AAR’s format will just be me presenting The Ukraine’s happenings in a loose, stream-of-consciousness way. I like to think I’m a seasoned HoI player but don’t expect any World Conquests here. Although I would like to be the undisputed master of East Europe by the time the end date rolls around. We’ll have to see how my Barbarossa skills are.
Difficulty: Normal
Agressiveness: Normal
IC and Tech takeover: On
Mods: Besides my very own reduced build times, I use Kazoo’s SKIF icons, with extensive replacing of the generic set to give The Ukraine’s mighty armies some flavor. I’m also not above save-scumming, so there might be a bit of that.
However, there is a slight problem. See, the F11 key saves my screens as BMPs, no problem usually, but I can't open these with Windows Photo Viewer or Paint. Nor can I upload them to Imageshack, and a conversion from a few converters only producers outright failures or this:
So does anyone know if there is a way to fix this or a converter that will work. I could post a picture-less AAR, but what fun is that?
