[Flosan, did you see our rules? Spain and Portugal should respect the ToT and only colonize that area. I dont think that Creek is a ToT area... but not sure. so you can colonize any lands that has spain shields in the colonization screen.]

I was not sure either but I just checked in a 1520 scenario: Both Creek territories have ToT shields for Spain.

However as I understand our rules:
- Spain and Portugal restricted to their respective ToT areas for colonization, while ToT is in effect.

ToT does not come in effect before 1505-1510, which should mean that I am allowed to colonize the whole world before that. :D
However, if that is not what you meant i have no problem restricting myself to ToT zones right away, I got more than enough to do woth those, and it is my primary area of interrest anyway.
My question is though: When does ToT end? Is there an event? I dont feel I should be bound to ToT after 1600.

I would like to discuss with Denmark and Austria the issue of Berlin. If Denmark does not cede it to me, I will take it by force, and, I wish for the Austrians' support in this. It is inevitable that Denmark shall annex Brandenburg. If the Austrians aid me, I will create BB as a vassal.

Denmark is not planning to annex Brandenburg. We wouldn`t dream about humiliating our German friends in such a way. In fact, Denmark has not yet annexed a single nation, and as long as Poland doesn`t give us a reason to annex them, which they will accieve by continueing their imperialistic politics, we do not plan to do that in the future either. We demand that Poland stops her expansion in the West and concentrates in the East. This is both in Austria and Denmark`s interest.

I, in the name of the Roman Empire, would like to agree a defensive alliance with the King of Denmark. With this alliance these two parts will have to keep the status quo in the Roman Empire, protecting any german states against any agressor... What the Danish King think about this proposal?

We are absolutely interested, but I think we will have to discuss terms more closely first ... We can do that when I return from holiday in about a week. :)

All Seems in order as per our discussions. Two minor revisions however, Franche-Comte was sold for 200 ducats friend of which I still owe 50D. Furthermore, I would make sure that the presitigious ruler of Austria keep aware of his titles, contrary to popular belief in Vienna the Imperial Title is not a fief of the Hapsburg family. Rather it is an honour bestowed on the state that most upholds the intergrity and tradition of Catholicism and Roman tradition. Currently the Palatinate fulfills this role so Austria is politely asked to remove this blemish from the treaty. Once these two "errors" are corrected France will oblige the request.

After this backward stab from france it seems Venice is going to have to change alliances, or maybe withdraw in a neutrality.
The Doge can no more stand such unpolite allies, that is not talking us whats going on. The european balance is broken anyway and alas, france will go for his road alone.

Nagging french officials eh, so finicky. In due accordance, this Pact of Alsace is considered in effect.
Signed by the The King of France, Lord Protector of Brittany and Savoy, Duke of Bourbonnais and the Emperor of all French.

Veneto - It is most grievous that you see things in this light Doge. France is simply signing a (15 year) Non Aggression Pact to prevent great wars from sweeping all of Europe and engulfing our children's future. This is no permanent alliance nor a bretrayel of Venetian aims as they so far have done exceptionally well. Lastly, it is hard to negotiate with you when your absent :) . Nonetheless, if this is your decision we shall respect it but we implore you to reconsider as the Protection of France is intergral to Venetian safetly.

In respect,
Disques Publics, Dans Garder Impérial
Michel

and the Emperor of all French.

Well It appears that the King of France is claiming a title of Emperor for himself, disrespecting the will of the Holy Father, that only blessed and recognized two Emperors in Europe. The Emperor of The Roman Empire( that is now held by the Prince of Palatinat) and the Emperor of The Eastern Roman Empire that now is unclaimed, after the Turkish invasion, and only Russia can claim it.

So I must warn you that this Creation of title is not well seen in Europe. I must ask that you respect the Europe's history and tradition!

I noticed too that The King of France claim for himself the title of Duke of Bourbonnais while it is actually held by Charles I, in spite of Charles is a vassal of the French King. You should respect your vassal, not grab his title.

Signed by Archduke of Austria, Duke of Bohemia, Prince Elector of Bavaria and Lord Protector of Holland, Lombardia and Genoa,

The Pope as he has realised historically IRL, is starting to doubt the validity of the Emperor's role in the HRE as it appears more as a challenge to divine authority rather then its supportive secular arm. Furthermore, the Pope had to run to France for protection from the barbaric heathens of Italy as no aid came from the "Emperor" (Austria). Currently the Papacy resides under the political and military protection of France due to the lack of security provided from the emperor. We would also like to remind the Austrian Duke that the crown of Bourbonnais was intergrated into the French crown on April 10th 1530, after popular request by the people of Bourbonnais.

Lastly, a look at the distinguished history of France may be in order as well. But as I have many important matters to attend to I shall keep this brief.

Post-roman culture and history outside of fragmented Italy was kept vibrant and honoured only in the Vatican and in Ile De France the Isle of the French or if you will Frankish Empire. The HRE was in fact an appendage of the Frankish Empire that unified all western and central europe under the auspices of Imperial Catholic and Roman might.
The Emperor Charlemagne the anointed defender of Christ, the 'fleur de lys' as a symbol of royalty and faith, the Avignon Papacy of 1305-1378 protected within France (due to threat from abroad) and the victory over the heathen moors from invading western europe are simply small examples of the traditions you so speak of that the French uphold. In the 4th century long before any Austrian awoke in this world the Franks were already ruling over europe's second largest empire, in 755 we saved the Papacy for the first of many times from absorption into the Lombard states. This list could go on and on but this remains seperate from our aim. Our aim is simply to bring awareness that Imperial titles have a seperation of origin, not universal application. It is an implication of rulership over large and varied lands with many titles and roles. Add to this the one state that has consistently been the primary defender of the faith for the last millenia and you shallt see that the Emperor of All French is a fitting title (notice French not german or italian, as the austrians try to assert) for his majesty. Peace be with you Duke.
