Was planning to wage war against the infidels in Persia.

Bad, bad subbing. I do not know if Nab ever wanted to do such, but since you did not know, (he did not leave instructions for that), why would you do such? Yea, perhaps you should have attacked Russia/Austria too. I shall never understand such actions...

The reason I wanted to attack you was because you have a little island with a value. I take it that you know which I mean. Now I don't think that Nab would object me if I got an extra CoT for him. And since I know that Russia and OE has good realtions in this game (only because when I subbed poland last session I was DoWed by that alliance, first by Russia, later OE joined) I thought that I were to help him against you when you joined on the Mughals side.

Is that a reason good enough for you, do you now understand why I wanted to DoW you?

You can be pretty sure i will use these 2, very rich, capitals, as the bargaining chip, to stab hit your lovely nation to death. That is, if you are smart enough to honour the alliance.

I'm looking forward to this. :D

Gam, you could have the best intentions for the OE (the hell is full of good intentions, anyway). But what is at stake, are not your intentions.

Let me be more clear. I remember in a game, where Portugal and Spain were friendly countries. Portugal is subbed. Spain is attacked by some countries, and at its weakest, the sub in Portugal uses this oportunity to attack Spain (against the PERM's will). Now, this did not happen, but lets imagine that Portugal took Andalusia with the CoT. The Portuguese PERM could always use a new CoT, but would it be good to take it from a friendly neighbour? Would the PERM ever do such an action? Would he prefer a CoT or his neighbours' friendship?

Again, i think this does not to be said, but doing silly things like attacking a human country, in an offensive war, without the perm's order, is absurd.

Also, i doubt you could take Qeshm, which does not share land conection to the mainland, with your fleet in the red sea, mainly composed of transports. Did you check how many galleys i had in the Persian Gulf? No? Well, better check then.

P.S. Tem, you should know that these capitals must give me enough WS to stab hit the alliance leader :)

You assume you'll hold them long enough :D

Last I checked, I have 4 times your monthly income, 3 times your manpower, and my generic troops won vs your troops led by one of your leaders in a 1:1 without CRT last war. Considering I'm closer to CRT than yours, that my borders are secure, and that I'm the type of player who's known to go to war out of boredom(and win them), do you really want to threaten me? Sure, the terrain's in your favor, especially since you'll be fighting on the defensive, but do you really think that'll stop me?

Besides, you want to stabhit me over what? The only territory I have next to you is Ferghana, which is well-garrisoned, positioned easy for me to reinforce it, and accross a river. Bring it on if you're such a big tough guy, I'm sure the war will entertain me.

About your choice of actions ... well i always misjudge you here. I never use tools like manu destruction

When I first read this I became astonished. Did KJ move armies back and forth to destroy manus? :eek:o  But a closer look on the comments indicated that it was not this kind of "manu destruction" but taking control of provinces were manus are under construction, correct me if I am wrong, and that seems to be intelligent play by John, nothing else. Like looting or embargoing, you try to do your opponent economical harm. Standard play, although to destroy manus under construction by taking control of the province hurts bad, really bad... and thus is just about the best you can do in a war vs your opponent :) .

From a theoretical point of view destroying manus are in between looting and embargoing. When you loot you gain money and he loses money. When embargoing both lose money (him the most) and when destroying manus he loses and nothing happens to your economy.

I however, am beginning to feel victimized, never have I attacked England, I sought better relations with you and underestimated your rabid aggression.

Wellcome to the party K'shar. There are some of us out there who have been aware of this for some time now. John "the mad war dog" I call him after every session in Test of Skill. ;) Indeed, in that campaign we had to be four nations to be able to get him down flat on the floor and teach him to behave as a grown up. After that lesson, he succeded in being at peace for a full 1.5 sessions, incredible! :p For him that must have been a record of some sort :D

Bah. Too bad. Being in Asia really hurts sometimes. :p

The Smart AI does not invite his allies to war. I am sure of it. Thats because i am in Asia, and they are considered Euros.

It seemed it was a very eventful session for Spain and also the longest session we have ever played. And I was not here :( .

Apparently, there was a big war between England and Spain, Sweden which we lost.
Anyway, some cots have spawned :) and how the dp could change so much?

Thanks to Drake. After all he lost no province :)

To clarify, its not the tactic itself that is astonishing but the bad blood these kind of moves can make, though admittadly I was somewhat to blame for the choice of tactics.

Well it wasn't entirely that bad, the bottom line is: KJ gets his enjoyment primarily from military conflict in EU2, and to his credit, primarily from war with his stronger neighbours. In EGA5 we fought almost unceasingly becuase I posed the greatest challenge ... and also never gave him a break :D .

Now, I realized that despite the releative lack of Swedish dow's on England, he found Sweden the most threatening of all his neighbours ... in the end waging war on Sweden was as much a means of getting ahead in general (though quite expensive as shown on the stats  ) as well as ensuring a longer term peacetreaty with me. It suits him perfectly = Peace secured through war, what else could we ask for from John?

It would be fun if he sometimes, you know, actually fulfilled the momentum he gained from such wars, instead of putting himself in the eternal underdog position, despite the amount of wins he achieves ;).
