War once again has reared its' ever so pleasant head above the fields of Europe; a French offensive to round out its German/Dutch claims from the Decleration of the Chambers of Reunion was summarily repulsed by the combined efforts of Denmark, Bradenburg and Austria, with England joining in later. Through a complication of diplomatic discourses (confusion over rules) the French got off very light and only lost Alsace in Europe and 4 other territories abroad.
Following this, the incensed French monarch started a trade war against England , a war that the English cannot really compete in due to their lack of trade emporiums. Nonetheless, England has managed to keep their vital eastern trade routes vibrantly humming.
As for the Empire .... it has seen better times, an endless march of incompetent Caliphs have ruled from the Golden City (1-2 stats Mil/Adm/Dip) shattering any trading competitiveness and plunging much of the Empire into rebellion. The 2nd Beys revolt has been put down but the Empire is still in the throes of its after effects (-2 stab from event, loss of 6 tax and 6 revolt for 2 years and -6 in stab from randome events for my 8.5K stab cost

). All of this has seen the empires income plummet by nearly 15% this session.
Their have been moments of respite however, the armed forces were issued new - awfully intimidating uniforms to make up for their lack of modern arms, and the Navy now fields extremely competitve armaments ... having made up the large gap with the English/Venetian Navies.
End session, the Austrian Archduke thought it fit to attack the peaceful Imperial outposts on the Hungarian border ... rewarding our neutrality during the French wars with this gratuitous act. Most bemused, the Caliph allowed the Austrian forces to advance into western Hungary while the legions of God prepared the hammerblow. When the annointed time arrived the Jannisaries struck as swift arabic arrows, cleaving through the Austrian lines and tossing them out of Imperial territory.
France took this time to exact its revenge and executed an invasion of west Germany, the Austrian Dukes aware of the releatilvely peaceful nature of the Turk send a large majority of their forces and Prince Eugene to oppose the French, so far the outcome is still in the balance.
The Caliph feeling once again for the hardpressed Duke, withdrew from a complete occupation of Austria and simply commanded Burat to occupy enough land to ensure an Austrian indemnity of 2000 ducats. Burat at the head of the I Imperial Army, tossed aside austrian and prussian alike while subdueing land all the way to Prague, which he handily occupied. For the moment Imperial forces stand back while the diplomats try to mediate a peace in the west.
