Somehow the HRE was dismantled about 1550 in my current game. It's chaos. Constant wars and the boundries are shifting constantly. I'm florence and I'm expanding north into Europe with no problem. Austria and Bohemia are little players. France and Spain are off in the rest of the world and France has not declared in Europe in 60 years or so. Strange game.

Here is the latest. I acquired some terrible AE and had to cool it a little. Since then Austria is reasserting themselves, but if it were not for the pending coalition I could easily consume Austria in a few wars.

In the game I'm playing I dismantled the HRE in early 1700s, but northern Germany was in chaos for centuries beforehand. Brunswick gained most of the area before falling apart, followed by Brandenburg, Munster, Lubeck, Hesse? Holland, Hamburg, Luneburg, Saxony, Bohemia, Holland again and finally East Frisia around when I disbanded the HRE. East Frisia then formed Hannover, first time I've seen it. And each of those nations had at least ten provinces at one point or another.

What is Vinada?

I'e never seen the AI dismantle the HRE, though, until now.

It is my custom Norse nation, started in the new world to go for the two achievements

I am not sure. It was something I've only heard about, but apparently HRE can be dismantled when there is chaos in electors' choices. They need to all vote for different people.
But as I said, I don't know if this is true.

I know for fact the Emperor will win any tie if they're in the running. So if six electors vote for six different candidates, but the Emperor is one of them, Emperorship will be retained.

The emperor always wins ties, otherwise the country with higher prestige wins ties. I once lucked into Emperorship as France because Austria has no heir and every elector voted for a different candidate. I was the highest prestige of them all and won with one vote.

Most typical AI dismantle is after the league war fires. If the emperor becomes ineligible for any reason during that period, it will disband HRE since emperor is frozen for the duration of the war.

This does not explain a 1550 AI dismantle though. The only thing I can imagine is that the reformation was so strong it axed all the eligible options.

If I were to guess, I'd say the two starting electors that are doing well in OP's screenshot (Cologne and The Palatinate) somehow got into a war with the Emperor. Austria has some Bohemian territory, which implies they've fought at least once. Saxony is a opm, so perhaps they were allied to Austria (or whoever was emperor at time of dismantling). And Brandenburg could have been annexed while the emperor was busy fighting this other war. And Mainz controls one territory, which isn't Mainz.

So my hypothesis is as follows: Saxony or Mainz became emperor, both allied with Trier. Cologne and The Palatinate were allies, and ate up the small neighbouring nations. They then declared war on Trier, bringing them into war with Saxony and Mainz as well. At the same time, or a bit beforehand Brandenburg gets into a war with either Sweden or Lubeck, and gets completely wiped out. Same for Bohemia against Austria. Or Bohemia could be part of the Cologne war and be at war with Austria, with The Palatinate being the one to siege down Prague.
So Trier gets occupied first, then 3? maybe 4 allies siege down Mainz, Prague, and Saxony at roughly the same time. Or close enough to avoid seperate peaces. And Brandenburg is already out of the picture, not yet replaced.

This is just a theory I made up of course. OP could check province histories of the elector capitals, might give clues to what actually happened.

Most typical AI dismantle is after the league war fires. If the emperor becomes ineligible for any reason during that period, it will disband HRE since emperor is frozen for the duration of the war.

Just tested this - 30 years war bookmark, brandenburg, declared the war of the protestant league after a month and then used vassalize HAB console command after a few days - emperor was not locked and bavaria was immediately elected emperor mid-war. There must be some other factor if there's a league war related disband potential.

Most common disband I see is protestants win, but all the protestants are non-monarchies, subject nations or female ruler.
