So you do only use trial and error and need to go back and read my post from yesterday? That explains with examples why trial and error is a bad way to design a game.

No, we achieve something acceptably historical through trial and error. Focus.

How do you propose we continue?

Every time anyone tries to bring evidence to the discussion Dafool turns it into an argument about why he doesn't want to look at anyone's research.

I find this ironic. You've provided only one real source and its relevance was not acknowledged by anyone other than yourself. When asked to provide proof that this source would invaluably improve EU's economic system, you stated quite openly that you had none nor intended to provide any. Perhaps you need to reconsider who is lacking in "evidence" at this point.

That is the cowboy style and not the gentlemen style. The defender should fire first, then the challenger, then they come closer and repeat it. Of course there were many forms of the fight over the spce and time, but I know this one.

I don't mind Europe being strong, but it should be done gradually and to a realistic degree. That's what I hope to see in EUIV.

What I hope to see is more fluid province stats. Decades of good governorship should see the wealth and power of a province increase, while incompetent governorship should see the loss of wealth and power in a province. How the AI or the gamer reacts to what is happening in the province or the nation as a whole should impact the provinces.

Example
When the Muslims conquered Iberia their competent governorship (read: tolerance) saw the rise of agriculture and craftsmanship. When the Catholics conquered Iberia their incompetent (read: intolerant) governorship saw the decline of agriculture and craftsmanship due to the persecution of Muslims and Jews.

Right now the Castilians can conquer all of North Africa and force convert the population without a drop in province wealth or power. That doesn't make sense. People should be fleeing, or refusing to work. Not just revolts but general instability in those province that would either force the Castilians to give up, liberalize, or (like the French did) slaughter the inhabits in their thousand till they obeyed.

A fluid game is a fun game.

So I should have to micromanage every province in my empire? No thanks. Handle such things better with a nation-wide modifier (like intolerance, say) if you want to handle them at all.

So I should have to micromanage every province in my empire?

Yes? No? Maybe? I'm not sure. Whether the system is nation wide or province specific, all I hope for is fluid provinces.

Example

All intolerant nations should see their heretical or heathen provinces decline, either through loss of wealth, power, both or something else altogether. More tolerant nations on the other hand should see their heretical or heathen provinces develop, either through creation of wealth, power, both or something else altogether.

I dislike the games static nature. Just as I or the AI react to certain events or movements, so too should our populations and provinces. However all I've seen so far are revolter armies that do nothing but change the faith or culture of a state. Once or twice the government.
