Hence, there will be no more than cursory edits to Persia should it get a player.

You're probably right. After all what difference will the addition of a few more provinces make to the Sultan's eastern behemoth .

Persia should only be played if the Mughals are too. The Mughals would be crazy to let Russia or the OE trample Persia, so Persia would have a natural ally there and would bring some sort of dynamism to that area. Perhaps Persia would even stand some sort of chance without the need for major edits - though I still think it would be a small chance unless one of OE or Russia was very friendly. A truce for a few years whilst a human player got persia's house in order would also seem reasonable.

The objections made are fair, I'm dropping the issue. If Lotus does show up I'll take either Venice or Persia (with whatever "light" edits Slarg decides on). I'm waffling between the two at this point- I'll decide by Friday which I'll use. Feel free to state which you think I should take (and why), also feel free to ICQ/PM me dipolmatically in either role. For the record though, I must note that any deal made is off if I pick the other nation.

I admit I made some bad decisions, and I've learned alot from them; but fact the fact remains- the Hapsburg war crippled Venice. All is not lost though, so I may contine to limp along as them.

Try to make a deal with them. Or simply go strictly colonial from now on. All is not lost yet... and I'm not saying that we shouldn't let you continue as another nation just because you made some early mistakes. I'm just saying that we shouldn't artificially create this abnormely strong Persia for the purpose...

BLK brought up the issue of Judges in promotion in the italian provinces ceded to Spain.

I don't believe I've ever edited a province with construction ongoing before, and as such there's no precedent on how to handle an eventual stopping of construction and reimbursement of the money.

As such, before I make a prejudicating decision, I'd like everyone's input on the subject.
