BTW, thank Crinkled, you did a fine job while subbing France. No way you could avoid the austrians-swedish-dutch atack, with my allies not interested in joining war on my side.

France, when I subbed for her was lacking mayors in almost every home province, and there was 2-3 that even needed baliffs. You had done a good job on inflation--approx 13-14 per cent. Since infra was around 8.....I said to myself, "SELF!" " We need some city managment improvements here".

Well I had some new provincies in Helvetia and Palatinate, so they didnt had any infra yet. That explains lack of baillifs. But I had mayors in almost all provincies... could have forgoted some, but in most of it i had... you should be talking about legal counsels wich i dindt have really, because i had not the money to put it :)

Although since the isolationist policy of Spain has served them in a splendid manner, maybe they should persist in it? Comparing the evolution of this pacific realm with the warmongering ones in Europe, it is clear what it is the best policy :)

Originally posted by Camisa 10 It´s another side to the story, as according to french registers and the diary of my very good regent Reed Phoenix, it was the dutch who attacked french forces first.

Red Phoenix is a liar and a cheat. :p He still maintains this fact?

The french forces in Italian west africa attacked a siege army of mine, obliterating 8 000 infantry and 70-80 cannon. He claims to have never seen it...

When I returned to west africa with reinforcements and was making my way north, a french army was standing in the way. I can't remember if I told Red to move it or not, but I eventually attacked to get it out of the way and reach the rest of the italian lands.

Red broke the treaty, not the dutch, when he provoced conflict in Africa.
My judgement of the situation is that Red was craving an excuse to break the treaty and march into Holland. My only regret is that I caved in to his threats rather than waiting for Austria to turn the tide..

Hum... according to the memoirs of Louis XV, it was openned a line of negotiations to the dutch about the venetian war issue and the treaty was still accepted by the two sides after that... so by breaking it, the dutch shall understand they will bear full consequences of theirs acts for little possibility of gain...

They would be better as french friends than french enemies.

France should know that the dutch are tired of being screwed over by the french and will now dictate terms. It is up to the french to accept them or fight for it.

I put the following snippets of evidence before the tribunal:

French break the treaty: January 2, 1713 : We are attacked by hostile armies of France in Buré.

Army all but annihilated: January 21, 1713 : We lost a battle against France in Buré.

French army in Begho annihilated along with an italian army (don't have attacks set to display in log so it's not there): May 17, 1713 : We have initiated a siege in Begho.

RedPhoenix complains: RedPhoenix (France) :err you are attacking me agagin holland

These facts are easily gleaned from the save.

I put it to you that Red is using subterfuge and lies in order to further his agenda... that man is not to be trusted. ;)

Further interesting parts of the conversation:

Slargos (Netherlands) :You already destroyed my siege army there.
RedPhoenix (France) :I didnt attack any army yu had
Slargos (Netherlands) :You had already attacked my army there, and I'm trying to perform an invasion here...
RedPhoenix (France) :I demand high compensation now
RedPhoenix (France) :goto holland england"
July 12, 1714 : Friesen has been besieged by England
July 17, 1714 : Münster has been besieged by England

RedPhoenix (France) :then you refuse to compensate properly"
Slargos (Netherlands) :YTou killed my siege army with 100 cannon, Red. (slight exaggeration.. ;) )
RedPhoenix (France) :I didnt fight your siege army"
Slargos (Netherlands) :Now let's talk proper terms instead of this..
Slargos (Netherlands) :Heh, you killed it."
RedPhoenix (France) :no I did not"
Slargos (Netherlands) :In west africa."
RedPhoenix (France) :no"
Slargos (Netherlands) :We'll check the log later. :)"
RedPhoenix (France) :I never attacked anything of yours there"
Slargos (Netherlands) :You'll see."

On and on did the conversation go. Suffice to say, Red knew full well what he had done and was just trying to provoke me. Which he succeeded in doing.

The evil Swede that is Slargos lies. He attacked the honorable regent RedPhoenix and thereby broke the threaty, by ordering his forces into one of Venice' African provinces that happened to contain some French troops, sent there as a peace force.

Again, Anal-dweller ( :p ), what part of "We are attacked" do you not perceive? ;)

The italians speak with forked tongues!!

And don't think I don't know who France's "friend" is.. ;)

ITS SWEDEN! *que dastardly fanfare*

Who was the only belligerent who wouldn't fight? Sweden. It is obvious.

The austrians have been nurturing an adder at their bosom.. lamentations and grief!

Screwed over? It's a long time since the last dutch province was ceded to France. And since in the meantime the Netherlands has becomed one of the richest countries in the world, we do not think that the 'screwing over' was that relevant.

Since the original signing of the non-aggression treaty, France has attacked the Netherlands on 3 separate occasions with some poor excuse every time.

This aggression will simply not stand.

I understand that after the non-aggression treaty only has been one war between Netherlands and France (the venetian one). Why 3 attacks?

Not quite... I just managed to lure France and England in a non agression pact to isolate Russia... nothing more. And as I said from the beginning I would not participate in an offensive war against France knowing they would be abandoned by its allies. Sweden has also nothing to gain from such war. I also think that Sweden has proven itself in the past for what I've always considered a defensive alliance. So not joining my allies quest for revenge makes me a friend of the french? I think not. Besides I did honor our alliance and in case of another run-over of Holland by France, Sweden will be obliged -as always- to jump to their defense. Although this paranoid behaviour of the Dutch does not contribute to the purpose of dying for such a cause.

Haham... I never signed any pacts to not intervene in Russian in case of war...

Or anything close to it. In fact any atack on Russia or any Russian atack would be immediatilly backed by France, except if it was an Russian atack on the Ottomans - wich are also friends of France. And if OE atacked Russia I would go in Russia´s defense.

Dont have the minimal idea what thats about.

Far from being 3 atacks...

1 War - Dutch atacked France when we were being atacked by Austrians in Rhin, when we tried to annex french lorraine. We didnt start the war agaisnt Austria or dutch and we advised the dutch sub about the non agression pact. His answer was to atack north France.

2 War - This time we atacked dutch after trying to garantee they would abide by the previous treaty of non agression and being informed by the sub: "we will stand by Austria and fight France"

3 War - Durtch and french regent position differs. We believe in french regent as dutch had proved to be unreliable the two times before :D

So, France atacked only one and was atacked another - and the third ocasion is very uncertain.

Do not try to make dutch appear as good boys. They never abide by the treaty.
