Arco and I where talking, and we agreed that it would be really swell if anyone who doesn't feel that strongly for their listed nations, and wouldn't mind taking something else, would say so...

It's pretty tough to assign nations, but I guess you all realise this by now...

What you think can be more interesting for the game?
Mughals? Persia? Denmark? Poland? Venice?

Mughals and Persia can be interesting -checking or allying with OE- but OTOH at the beginning you are kind of lonely (and I got little experience playing them)

Poland can be useful for the game, but I'm playing them in another game.

I do not know about Denmark or Venice. Denmark can make more interesting the situation in the Baltic, but OTOH are in the hit list of Sweden (and Camisa can be very warmongering when he wants). Venice I think makes less interesting the situation in Italy (since there are less space for fighting in Italy when they are an italian player country).

Any opinion in what country could be more interesting to our game is welcomed

The case for Denmark:

It makes Swedish imperialism a bit harder.
It creates another contender for the high seas. Denmark has a HIGH capability to create a powerful navy and a colonial/trader empire.

The case for Poland:

A check can be kept on both Sweden and Russia to stop them from expanding too easily.
Makes the situation between OE, Russia and Austria much more dynamic.
Possible to keep a better check on Austrian annexation of the HRE.

I would rather have a "no annexation of persian provinces" rule than a persian player, thereby freeing up a slot for either Poland or Denmark.

I'd suggest Denmark ratehr than Poland as Denmark has a bigger possibility to act in varying theaters. Poland is constricted in the wars they can reasonably affect..

I think Denmark is a more interesting country (specially because Arco is already playing Poland in other game). So I would sugest it.

Also, who know we can get one more player to be Poland and have then a very convoluted north

BTW: as you see I resolved my net problems and will be playing tomorrow.

And I think it would be great to have a player Denmark, so uber Sweden won't annex all of Scandinavia...

BUT it will really create a tight situation in the north if we have Denmark, Sweden, Brandenburg, Poland and Russia all player controlled - and at the same time has noone in Italy and noone to counter OE.

For your current 1749 game, would anybody have any objections if I played a minor until the USA forms and then switching to USA? The minors I would consider playing are Manchu, Eire, Songhai, or Nippon.

BTW, Byng I doubt if USA will ever form in the game. And well, Eire is a poor vassal of England I think, Songhai was a vassal of Portugal (I have not checked if they broke vassalization), Manchu is kind of weak (southern China is in hands of european nations). Nippon is without their COT. So I do not think that minors are playable anymore in the game.

Do you know what actions England can take to prevent USA from forming? In general that is, not just in this particular game. Is it based on event choices, DP settings, or control/lack of control of certain provinces?

I'd like to see Mughals over Persia. I'd *really* like to see a Poland player. That would be nice to balance Austria, Russia, and Sweden. I have a severe dislike of an Uber-Sweden that never manages to get smacked down back into Scandinavia where they belong.

I think the addition of Brandenburg and Poland would be a good check on Austrian expansion. In our current game, the Austrian player is just a scary empire (nice job raising it without anyone noticing until it's too late )

Also, Knight_Kin (who dumbly posted in the AAR forum) is a reasonable friend of mine that has never played a full blown EU2 multiplayer game with anyone but me. If we have room, I'd like to give him a shot.

Regarding setup, we currently have

Poland and/or Mughals could be nice to have. If Mulliman or Knight_Kin could play, that are the available countries.

To check the OE, if we do not have a Mughal or Persian player, in the east we simply could have the no annexation of persian provinces rule

Current computer can host ~14 players.

I'm getting a new rig that will hopefully accommodate over 20.. but that one will not be available till sometime in 2 weeks.

We'll likely finish the game this sunday if we can do it relatively crash-free, otherwise we've got one more sunday to play.

We can either start using this computer and 14 players, or wait a couple of weekends and start using my new one and get more players.
