Well I might not be all that peaceloving as which I am described here, I just like to be in charge of my country when it's going to war and there has to be reasons to go to war.
The first war was not a reason at all to me. I do understand that it is great fun to roleplay 6 Catholic nations bashing the Ottos but as Spain had nothing to gain from it nor were being threatened or provoked I didn't think the war was justified.
The second war is something different. Well, I might not have gotten involved into this war with Spain because
a) I had other plans for "diplomacy" as all those treaties might have made obvious and
b) I didn't really had any intentions to take back Napoli or Roussilion as I was going to obey the treaties.
but generally speaking I was expecting to see a war between Spain and France at some point inevitable with the other countries being in one or the other allience.
Now the interesting question to me is mainly what will happen after the war. I don't really minf about giving up one or two colonies (but I won't admit in the AAR), only thing which kind of bothers me is that I had no input in all this but that's the sake of subbing...
Well, so how will the relations in Europe be after the war, with possibly even a Dutch player. Are all old treaties still valid? have they been broken yet? should we sign new treaties? Does anyone consider another nation an enemy now? (Venice-Austria, France-Spain i.e.)
I know a lot of these things aren't clear yet and might not be made public but that's what really catches my attention at the moment.

Well the event is there for a reason, spain inherited portugal, not any less than austria hungary or bohemia, in this year and event... only difference is that it wasnt coded that way in the game, not sure why? propably for game balance, and the fact that it in real life it broke away half a century later in a revolt.
anyway Idon't think the war is over yet... granted I was a bit too anxious to goto war , I should have finished converting all the natives before waging war, but .. things happen how they happen. Spain is in a good bargaining position right now I think anyway since its in a good position to wipe out the english in america and rules the seas. In europe its not as bad as it looks if austria just figured out how to move troops into france or even better to iberia. And france is undergoing heavy revolts right now to add on that.
But anyway, hope you guys have a good game
and btw spain could win the war singlehandedly too if spain decided to take some mercs too instead of keeping to develop economy even during the war
And atleast with austrian support a defeat is still miles away

I think that the chief problem is that is not possible to reproduce that revolt with the current game mechanics (Portugal should revolt and take all his former colonies).
About the crazy ideas about the war that the spanish regent has, well we think that explains why he entered this unfortunate war. Specially when every country is discussing peace terms, this talk about more war -with the killings and the sacking of cities that this implies- is very shocking and unpleasant to hear
Lawyers in Lisbon think that a treaty is valid until a country explicitly rejects it. And they are valid only for countries that effectively signed them. In other words, Sweden and Netherlands can do as they like (since they have not signed any treaty) and I think the OE too. But a king (or a senate) can always say that they will not abide by an ancient treaty. As long as they say that publicly, the opinion is Lisbon is that is perfectly acceptable; although Portugal is very satisfied with the treaties that we have signed so far

Saturday evening, but there is the possibility that he will not be online this weekend. I opened the save file and I think it is not that difficult to edit, so I can try to made the changes, although I prefer that these changes are made by one with experience editing.

Netherlands fought to take his colonial empire, I wont take that of the game by giving lands free for them
I bet that Spain didnt make treaty with France because it seemed just, but because it feared France and the french had already colonizated that lands.
Only saying that so that doenst look to the new player that I'am unresionable. I sure enjoyed the coming of the dutch - as I was one of the first proponents of the ading of the small republic that upset the big powers in many wars

And I would like to see in the future some limiteted wars - like (I dont know why they came on my mind ): SwedenxVenice, NetherlandsxFrance (if this happens ill try to fight a colonial war, wont try to take all dutch lands in Europe and demand peace, hehe - only some sieges in Brabant and Flandes at most
Not that Iam saying that there are something wrong with the actual war, it isn´t! But the aliance system really damages the chance of doing limiteted war. If I go for war against the dutch in the future because of Canada, I wont call my allies
