The late incident with a war between AUS on one hand and ENG+SPA on the other was indeed an unfortunate affair.
When now a few days have passed and emotions hopefully have come to rest it might be beneficial to look more into the affair.
Apart from BOP issues the basic reason for the naval powers (well, besides the wimps in POR that is) to meddle into the AUS-OE affairs was that lately OE had shown a distinctly friendly attitude vs us while AUS had not. On the other hand AUS had neither shown an unfriendly attitude, rather not an attitude at all.
Thus we considered OE to be a friend of ours, while AUS was not - although it was not an enemy.
No doubt the bonds between us cousins need to be strengthend and a more intimate relation should be possible to achieve. In the present state OE is a rather shaky nation and a more permanent state of peace between the two of you should be preferable when we take into consideration the French Leader tsunami that will hit us all in a few years time.
Let us try to forget what have passed, after all AUS got what they wanted - at least I assume that is the case. And this is what they should have gotten a long time before. If not OE had been that stubborn about a few crappy mountainous provinces whose main worth was their large fortresses, which only made them useful if AUS was hostile. It is much more easy for OE to be friendly with AUS, then they do not need any large fortresses in that area.
Please remember that at this moment SWE and FRA are in alliance. These two, together with OE, are your big historic enemies. SPA and ENG are not. We ask for your friendship and offer geenrous monetary support for the reconstruction of destroyed property in Germany during the presence of our army there.

I consider it rather unfair to label OE as your friend and Austria as somebody, who has no attitude and no value for your alliance. It is quite offensive statement. In fact, Austria didn't supported France while you were fighting them (not that long ago), as you *friend* OE did.
Your intervention was unjustified and Austria won't think about it other way. Due to it, we were forced to finish our 10 years campaign by getting three provinces, we originally intended to get 4. Many Austrian soldiers paid higher price just to allow Spain and England to laugh at their grave.
BoP is something very abstract and subjective. Thus Holy Roman Emperor doesn't accept any justifications labled with BoP phrase.
History is history and present is present. One who was once enemy can be now ally and vice versa (sure, except OE). You know that very well from your experience.

It is a fact that we have had very litte diplomatic contact. I have tried a little but I remember once when you responded something like "what have you to do with it". Well, that is how it has been. I also sent you state gifts in one of your wars with OE. That's about it. Thus what you describe as "no attitude" is not a personal view of mine, it is a fact.

Regarding state gifts - yes, you send some. Also other countried did that while I was fighting once mighty OE. I sent some gifts too (as everybody did). But don't expect Emperor to be grateful for stategifts you sent decades ago after you openly attacked Austria trying to support its eternal enemy - OE.

Whay history do you mean? Our game history? If so, Austria has much better relations with France (or even Sweden) than it has with Spain, historically.

Austria was in war with everybody in this game, usually because she was attacked. Only offensive wars were vs. OE recently, Poland and Spanish alliance when Spain allied with Helvetia (which held Austrian territory at that time). Veneto was transferred to the Spain via event.Daniel A said:

As I am going to Rome the holiday the coming week and have to leave my house about 4 AM Saturday morning = Friday night, I can't really attend this session. Also consider I haven't done any packing or so yet. :wacko: I will write a set of instructions so that my sub will be able to follow whatever protectionistic measures still are in effect.

We could try to finish it in one session perhaps. I can play unto 24.00/1.00/2.00.
In the first session I participated we played from 1683 to 1708 IIRC. 25 years. And we had some problems at the start of the session. But it was quite a peaceful session IIRC. The last years of a campaing are perhaps normally filled with wars.
A good idea could be that we tomorrow night actually start at 20.00 thus all that want to join has to be there a few minutes before. That would save 15/30 minutes. Anyone not there could join an hour later at a rehost. Meanwhile we will ravage his nation teaching him a lesson. Or why not start 19.00?
I would indeed like to see Seen in the game until the end. He has performed splendidly with Sweden and I do understand he wants to end his achievement himself. Although this alliance with FRA is a little bit surprising considering his earlier comments to Van Engel when he, VE, made a NAP with FRA. But perhaps this alliance is only temporary, primarily intended to thwart the ENG-SPA peacefully intended aggression vs AUS. Something that is now history!

I don't think we will finish this game in one session. It is end and time of BIG wars. This slowers the speed a lot IMO.
