Quit making stuff up, no one has proposed limiting Russia's army.

Not true. I did. From my couch of detachment, self-righteousness, and semi-informed-ness. Oh, and sleep-deprivation.

EDIT: I whole-heartedly agree that the negotiations et al. should take place out of sight of the viewing public. Otherwise, you get fools making all kinds of outlandish suggestions etc. while you're trying to hash things out. At least it will keep those fools from embarrasing themselves in a fit of exhausted passion.

Most of all, though, I don't want Memnon to leave, and I think it is possible to make a peace that all parties can live with.
Memnon isn't leaving the game, and we are working our way towards a peace agreement. Still some ground to cover, but I see no reason that we shouldn't be able to sort it all out soon enough.

Muy bien. When I was writing, Memnon's departure seemed a real possibility. I'm glad he's not leaving, but I stil hope that you guys don't go too hard on him.

It wouldn't be wise for some powers to be harsh on him. A weak Russia will mean a strong Prussia/Austria/OE. I'm sure Spain/USA/England/France wouldn't want that.

BTW guys great MP game, makes me think back of the old EU2 MP days of MGC3/MGC4/Tsunami where illustrious people as Damocles and Darthmaur clashed with each other. I really should try out Vicky MP soon.

What are you? The thread police? I’ll read what I want—thanks.

You're the one that said the thread no longer interests you, if you don't like it don't read it. More obvious advice than "thread-policing" IMO.

Edit: Sure, PM me, I still have no idea what you meant.

Details, Darkrenown, give them the details!

The 500,000 men you lost were all natives you had just recruited from Bengal specifically for that war. Your standing army wasn't even touched.

Half a million men, gone! Evil, evil Russia! :p

Personally, I?m losing interest in this game rapidly. It seems more like fishing for forum fame than a serious game of Vicky.
It's sad if you're losing interest, but that'll be your call.

But "fishing for forum fame"? I don't know how that works, even. I can, however, assure that it is a serious game of Vicky.

yup, all very stimulating.
It sounds like a cracking contest, so it is no suprise that emotions may have risen.
I am keen to see how the next stages pan out, it would be interesting so see some slightly more heterogenous conflicts in action.

It is also edcuational in terms of 'political gameplay'. i think that the players might perhaps contemplate who has been quietest about their situation, in looking for the next threat.

(I guess that the Crimean war events are cancelled?)

Russia backed down on the Crimean event a few sessions ago, I think it came up when they were preparing to attack me :)

As for the next conflict, well, there's the upcoming Frano-Prussian war events. We'll see what comes of them. *Dun dun DUN!* <--dramatic music

I meant I was losing interest in participating in the game—this particular MP game.

I have a rule from my MP Age of Empires days: never play with quitters. That was a big problem with that game. A lot of guys who were losing would pull the plug to prevent losing ratings points. Which also meant you didn’t get any for the win. There was also the “drop trick” where quitters could actually get points for winning and you’d lose rating points. Yeech.

To make matters worse guys could have as many nicks as they wanted, which made it nearly impossible to know whether you were playing a quitter or drop tricker. Anyway, it was a huge problem. I think ES has tried to be more aggressive with their Age of Mythology game but it still happens. I think they ban the IPs of known drop trickers. I’m not sure, but I think RON lets you have only one nick.

In team games it was certainly honorable to resign if your position was hopeless. A resigning player would gift all his remaining resources to his teammates. Perhaps this is the solution in this game. If—I say “if,” I’m speaking only as an observer—I was a member of the alliance, I would try to find an honorable way for Russia to resign.

Quitting is very bad form. Of course, having to leave a lengthy game like Vicky is not quitting. Vicky is soooo long to play allowances have to be made. This makes quitting more reprehensible.

November, I sincerely hope you aren't implying that I only pretended to quit in order to recieve a more favorable peace. I think you'll find that the demands against me are just as harsh as they were before.

Memnon had tech issues two weeks ago and when the war started he was at somewhat of a disadvantage, but the only way to fix it would have been to edit the save and restart the war, and if you start doing stuff like that the game just gets silly. So I'd have understood if he'd quit then, but he played on.

Given the amount of time MP Vic takes, there's no point in playing if you truely believe your nation is no longer viable, and clearly Memnon felt this was the case for Russia if the gave up the Ukraine, where apparently most of his industry is centred. While we want to impose a strong penalty on Russia, I had and have no desire to see them cripped to that point and the demand for freeing the Ukraine had been dropped before Mem "quit", seemingly Memnon was not aware of that when he made his announcement, but now we're back in peace talks to work out a harsh but not crippling peace offer.

I don't feel Memnon was unreasonable to not want to play when he believed his nation was going to be made unplayable, if the US was forced to give up it's northeast coast I'd be out of the game, and when France lost the multi-nation war against it the French player flatly refused to give up his only defensible border. There are some things a nation cannot give up and still continue in the high-stakes world of MP.
