What I meant was that if TF2 hits the shelves first and it turns out to be a very good game then I will wait a while before I buy EU.

Then it won't hurt the sales of EU.

QED

However, I think we both agree that

a) EU needs more marketing and

b) Vision Park are confused.

I agree 100% with you one those two things.
But it will be harder for Visionpark to make people notice the game if they release the game when some other great games are released.
Because TeamFortress2 and Tribes2 is going to get a lot of attantion from gaming magazines and such.
So it would be much wiser of them to publish it as soon as possible instead of waiting.

If EU was released today, it would have to 'compete' with blockbusters like Red Alert 2 and Baldur's Gate 2. No matter when EU is actually released, it will stand no chance against the great mainstream games.

However, my point is that EU does not actually compete with those games at all since it belongs to another genre. EU appeals to strategy gamers, especially the hardcore crowd, and these people will buy it no matter what kind of public pleasing Mattel-Hasbro-Havas-LearningCompany kid's game stands beside it on the shelf.

Agree with you Doomie. For us strategy types, EU will be a first choice. Nothing else will get in the way. ;)

But gamers who prefer the click fest games and the current crop of 'blockbuster games' also have played Civ, Imp, RR tycoon, etc. Many of them will probably try EU too.

Aren't people tired of the endless 'Clone and Conquer' games coming out? I stay away usually; they are more of the same - I tire of them far too quickly.
