Time for this weeks dev diary. Since last week the we have managed to do a lot of stuff, apart from the regular bugfixing we have had time to do a a comprehensive rebalance of buildings, replaced the polar bears with canal graphics and not least managed to end the latest season of the PDS Developer Multiplayer (http://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum...ltiplayer-Sessions-A-whole-Season-of-EU4-Beta), congratulations to Carsten who came out as a convincing winner. A new season is planned, more on that later.

Anyways, before I go back to tweaking the game I want to tell you a bit about the interface changes we are adding to the 1.6 patch.

Macro Build Interface
First up is a big rework of the interface we like to call the Macro Build Interface, the interface that lets you build stuff like buildings and armies by clicking on the map. It used to be that it had to tabs that allowed you to build either units of buildings. Among all the interfaces in EU4 that was the one that added the most to making the game smoother to play and we figure we could do more with it. For 1.6 we have added the following to that interface: Make Core, Change culture, Send Missionary and Harsh Treatment. To further improve usability you of course get information per province relevant to what you are trying to build, revolt risk for Harsh Treatment for example. A minor thing is that you can now more clear how much power each building will cost.

Loans
The next little improvement has to to with loans. Since people can take a lot of loans very fast we’ve noticed the need to repay a lot of loans, therefore you now have Repay All Loans button that will repay as many loans as you can currently afford.

Holy Roman Reforms
Then we are adding a specific improvement for players in the Holy Roman Empire, and thats the ability to actively vote on Imperial Reforms. You just use the checkbox to announce the highest reform that you are willing to accept.

Call Allies
And for the final improvement something that came in just recently, and thats the ability to selectively call allies into war. So if you know one of your 4 allies will refuse, just leave that box unticked.

Im sure there are more little interface improvements that I’ve forgotten but now you at least have the ones that I feel improve my EU4 gameplay the most. Until next week.

EDIT: Oh, and one last thing. When you have set your unit maintanance to lower than max, your moralebars will now be yeallow instead of gree :)

Fourth

I looks really good. The new macro build interface is a really good thing, since it will become a lot easier to manage your religious conversions; it is also great to have the different build interfaces in tabs instead of in folding menus.
Regarding the loans then that also is great: Sometimes loan sizes have been very small, so you got really many loans and it was later a chore to manually pay them of.
I also really like being able to selectively call allies in the declare war interface instead of having to do it from the diplomatic menus.

Yes! it does happen once in a while that I forget to raise unit maintenance, this will avoid stupid stackwipes or defeats. :D

Will it ever be possible to build a 'batch' of units? Like Vic II has.

By any chance does this include my vassals which fight poorly, make poor choices, and like to ruin wars where I try to be more creative? :)

Can you make it so we can add/remove proviences to/from the HRE with the Macro Build Interface? This would make it a lot easier to do so and shouldn't be more complicated than harsh treatment or the other tools you've added.

Let it be YES, Please!

There are so many situations where I don't want the idiots involved in the war. I even find myself wasting units to give them someone to attach to, so I can escort them safely to an area where they can do no harm.

Please, please, let me be able to tell them to stay home.
