Check the other topics in this forum, I don't remember where exactly but Castellon stated somewhere that the cd-keys that where given were actually an error and that everyone else will get theirs on release day.

Well, it's f****d up and unfair... Steam and/or Paradox could do a better job. I mean, they could either correct the bug (bug is still there, given which day 17blue17 pre-ordered) or give the cd-keys to everybody.

As it is, the situation is messy, and, dare i say, not very professional regarding both Steam and Paradox.

I can relate.
But I prefer having been given an answer. Even if I don't like that answer.
Maybe you should set your visible icons to the max (50??) for the next month - purely out of spite

Well, at least the issue is closed now. No forum keys before release date for anyone (except those who previously benefited from the glitch) whether you pre-ordered from Steam or an other retailer.

I can completly relate. In every aspect.

May god have mercy on your souls if my preorder-icon, by some "glitch in the matrix" will not be there when the game is released.
I dont mind the waiting (too much), but missing it because someone is incapable of doing a propper job would be inexcusable.
More than buying the game on preorder in the best version aviable, i cant do.

Also the communication is lacking, i expected BjornB to keep us updated.
Instead this gets cleared up in some other thread randomly by Castellon.
If Ethanol wouldnt have linked this here we would still be waiting for an answer.

As much as i'm completely irked by the current situation, in all fairness, i've just read in the 500k Icon thread that BjornB is currently on vacation... which would account for the lack of responsiveness of late.

Just got a response from Steam... the message reads :

"The keys that users see now will likely be removed until release. We do not issue CD Keys for pre-orders."


As soon as he gets back from vacation, i hope BjornB will comment on that, and give us some clarifications....

To be fair this has already been clarified by Castellon.

A few Steam users got their keys early by mistake, everyone will get them at game release.

I hope they do not remove already issued keys. I mean if I already have a key and registered the game on the forum then Steam takes that same key a way and gives it to someone else when the game is released will that other person's forum registration fail because I already used that key? And how do I change my key on the forum to a new key?????

That would just create a bigger mess. They need to think through things better.

I agree, although the message seemed pretty straightforward. But on the other hand, Steam doesn't appear to care much for its customers and bad side-effects of their mistakes...

Hi guys!

I want to thank you all for sending me the information I requested before.

HOWEVER! I needed information to send to Steam so that they could look for what went wrong, why some can't see the code. It did not mean I would be able to make the CD key appear. I'm sorry if it was misleading.

I have not heard anything more from them I'm afraid. I will poke them again to see what's going on.

Steam did ask me to stop telling you to contact them. It seems this is some information that has been circulating, which is understandable since that is usually the process when missing a key. Not this time though. So no need for you to contact steam, we are in contact with them.

I will get back to you when I hear anything new.
