Europa Universalis IV = Europa Universalis V Beta?

So with the sheer amount of rework that has gone into this game since it first came out, and now with the performance issues from the game seemingly being pushed to its limit with the latest patch and expansion, does it seem like this is just a Beta for a future installment in the series?
One that would be made with the current features as the basic default.

I love the expansion, btw, but I just kinda get the feeling that EUIV is just the experiment on what does and doesn't work which could then be implemented in a new, optimized game.(not that I think one would be coming out anytime in the near future, though)
Or did EUIII undergo similar changes after it first launched?

It's the biggest revolution in this series history, but I wouldn't call it beta. Propably EU5 would be moreless EU4 upgraded, just as EU2 was EU upgraded and EU3 was EU2 upgraded. And really, If You call that a performance issues, then don't play the first 2 games. I had always the most frequent autosave enabled, cause You never knew what will cause the game to crash.
Also, there weren't so many performance issues before patch 1.8. So this is just some mistake, not a test/BETA. Ockhams razor.

Nah, I'd actually say EU2>EU3 was bigger than anything else. (possibly even EU1>EU2 in that it opened up every country as playable)

That said, Paradox games are always in flux. They tend to change rather radically within iterations.

EU5 would probably require a different game engine.

Nothing wrong with going back to your work and decide some things could be done better and change them. Unless your name is George Lucas, of course.
