I like it. Always felt Austria found it a bit too hard (read: impossible) to follow their historical course in EU3.

What decides how the electors will vote?

This seems to have been missed, are there special diplomatic factors that determine the AI's vote?

im assuming austria has missiosn to PU hungary and trollhemia? Also will silesia be richer this time around? Silesia was a very rich region(richer than most regions of austria) and austria didnt much like it when prussia took it from them.

edit:also good DD, i never played austria much for some reason *shrugs* usually liked playing prussia

Can we get that countries in the HRE get their real titles instead of "king of bohemia"?

Last time I checked, the title King of Bohemia was a rather "real title".

What about the dukes though? How about doing something about those Kingdoms of Austria, Saxony, Hesse, and the like? :p

nah. If they are independent monarchies they are Kingdoms.

Please read the dev diary again about Austria.. If they become an archduchy, then they will be called Archdukes.

It seems a little strange to go from being a King to an Archduke, don't you think? This probably won't be answered, but is there any chance at all of giving modders a little more power when it comes to title localizations so we can use country tags as an extra modifier for how titles appear in the game?

What about electoral concessions? As in, wahlkapitulationen?

What made the power of the HRE erode slowly over the centuries in real history was, to a significant part, that the electors liked to be as autonomous as possible, and would from time to time demand decentralization as a condition for re-electing the Habsburgs.

Will Saxony, the Palatinate and Brandenburg continue to stupidly back themselves, even if they have no support? For Bohemia, I could understand it, but it always annoyed me when Saxony blindly backed themselves without any support of any kind. This seems to be the case in the screenshot as well, but will it be changed?

Also, thanks for an awesome DD :D

What exactly does missionary strength entail?

As an example I'm bringing up spain though they were up against morocco, rather than germany with it's protestants.
We have a 2% missionary chance bonus to spain which involves an increases the rate at which you receive missionaries.
The austrian missionary strength feels like an increase to conversion speed. But how does +2 affect this?

Spain to Japan? Looks like an ugly empire :p Personally, I'd aim to try to recreate the empire of Charles V, possibly minus the colonies, and then try to hold onto that, and maybe see if I could get England into the Habsburg realm as well, and then slowly try to centralize the HRE, while pushing into the Balkans :)

Just for the sake of clarity: does that mean that Privilegium Maius drops Austria's status down from (fictional) kingdom to just a mere archduchy and yet gives them a better government?

Can we get that countries in the HRE get their real titles instead of "king of bohemia"?

You're joking right? Since you just used the one exception on the rule.

nah. If they are independent monarchies they are Kingdoms.

Please read the dev diary again about Austria.. If they become an archduchy, then they will be called Archdukes.

Thing is member states of the Holy Roman Empire weren't really independent, since they are vassals of the empire. ;) (How nominal that might be.)

I really like Austria as an archduchy and the prince-electors as electorates (maybe a distinction between the archbishop - prince electors and the secular prince electors). Hesse as a Landgraviate would be good too. However TBH having all those kingdoms in the HRE even when they don't meet certain conditions for it is a bit annoying; then again I and some others here might know more about this region than average, still when you do, then that just doesn't feel right. Alternatively except for initially Bohemia*, which was a kingdom, vassals of the HRE were to put it in German: ''Reichsfürsten'' (princes of the (Holy Roman) Empire. Maybe the generic secular title should be prince. Though to be exact that actually signals a rank and not a title; so a prince of the empire could have held the title archduke, duke, count palatine, landgrave, margrave, (princely count) or even prince and in the case of Bohemia king. (Then again prince elector also is a dignity, which is combined with a title.)

(*= the king of Bohemia, also was a 'Reichsfürst' prince of the (Holy Roman) Empire)

Back on the rest of the DD, I really like it. Then again together with the house of Valois-Burgundy I find the Habsburgs interesting; both were important for the development of the Low Countries.

The map filters have decreased significantly from EU3. That's a shame, it was useful to flip through them all and see your provinces at a glance without going into the charts and tables.

Nice DD!!

Not being able to vassalize electors is the key to keeping HRE a competitive diplomatic contest I think ;)

I've played most of my games in EUIII as Milan ( practice makes perfect right? ) and I've had many brutal Wars against Austria so I'm really looking forward to seeing the change in dynamics between these two countries in EUIV.
can't wait.
