Of course it is relevant. If it is not capital, then it doesn't matter. It's like capturing cracow, when capital is warsaw. Or beijing when capital is nanjing. Capital is allways better defended than rest of the country. IE napoleon did not took petersburg.

Oh man I guess if USA got into a war and NYC got captured it wouldn't matter...Also he didn't take St Petersburg because Moscow was a more important target even though it wasn't the capital.

Also he took Moscow when Russia was much stronger. When Poland occupied Moscow it was basically on beginner's mode with cheats enabled so it doesn't really matter anyway.

I'd argue that the importance of a nation is subjective especially when neither Poland interacted with India or India with Poland you can't say one was more

I'm certain that Spain was more important (to the game and the time period) than the Australian Aboriginal peoples, and they never interacted with each other. You can still judge relative importance even if two groups of people didn't interact with each other directly.

Question on India. Is the terrain fixed from the Eu3 series? In Eu3 the Himalayas covered the northern India Plain rather than stopping at Nepal so cities like Delhi were in the Himalayas by mistake. It was reported as a bug many times but never fixed.

I think it was ok in Victoria II but I am not sure.

I am sorry if this has already been answered in some other post. It just would look strange to have 3D mountains in an obviously wrong spot.

Also is the capital of VIJ and the location of Bangalore reasonably correct? Both were way off in EU3.

You have a point, however neither Poland was as important on the world stage as Spain or as unimportant as the aborigines. India was also as unimportant as the aborigines, and as important as Spain. Broadly speaking neither are super important and neither super unimportant, and both should be and are tier 2 nations. That being said I also think Sweden is tier two. xD

Poland achieved moscow occupied so be silent please. Tell me one other nation, that occupied moscow during the time it was capital of russia.

meh Crimeans burnt down Moscow as well, French captured it, kind of, others did it before it was the capital and so on, so poles arent the only ones.

Also burning things down is hardly an achievement, heck i could do that myself. Doing something like creating art, building up an empire, or establishing a lasting (non annexed) civilization is what constitutes achievement.

Getting partitioned, a few times, is what makes achievement - not. Maintaining hurt feelings all those centuries after, doesnt help the case either.

So, Roman Empire didn't achieved anything?
Most of the countries got conquered at some time, that's why most of them have a holiday like "Independence Day".

No, they have "Independence Day" because they were un-conquered. Rebellious upstarts!

Playing around with 21:9 monitors I see. That gives me some hope that EU4 will play nice with my setup (3x16:10 monitors), and things like high DPI laptops.

Well, if i was to troll you, id say that Roman Empire is not in EU3, so in a way, it does go along with my proposition.

Now, since im not going to troll you, ill give you a hint: maybe you shouldnt take the post you quoted literally.

Basicaly, i don't say india has unimportant history, but poland was relevant to the history of whole world, not just india. India was relevant to history because it was conquered many times by forgein powers, like mughals and india. Poland was relevant because it saved europe from turkey, and was propably the first democracy, in eastern europe. Nobles were the citizens, and rest were tax payers, but if in ancient athens 10% of people being under athenian rule, were citizens, and it was democracy, we can clearly name poland democratic country(and as in the case of athens, when the morality declined in poland, it failed and was conquered). Also, this game is made from european viewpoint - so i think to history of europe, poland was much more relevant than india - even after it was divided(IE napoleon, and princedom of warsaw).

I came for the promised content on the Indian subcontinent, but I stayed for the borderline incoherent nationalist/counter-nationalist rants on eastern Europe! Do we really need to turn every dev diary into a discussion as to why Poland was super important/not important at all/what's a Poland? Just make a separate thread for that.

On actual subject, I'm not really sure how to feel about these. They seem a lot less, I dunno... coherent than some of the other nations. Sort of a grab bag of abilities that don't really encourage you in any given direction. Still not sure if that's a good thing in that it gives you more directions to take your game, or bad in that it doesn't let you really specialize.

I can say that I like Vijayanagar the most from these; the extra possible advisor is a relatively unique and powerful looking ability, and the abilities overall seem to pair at least decently with the Administrative Idea Group as it stood at last stream.

While a Democratic testbed is important to a degree, that makes Corsica as important as Poland as they were the first country to have a Democratic Constitution (which also allowed women the vote I might add in grand old 1755). England/Great Britain's parliament was also coming into it's own since the English Civil War so democracy alone does not make a nation important. (I am not for one second arguing the shortlived corsican republic as important as Poland) I am however saying that just using democracy does not make your nation 'important' after all I believe one of the states in India was democratic or one of the castes could vote or something.

My overall point is Poland only affected eastern europe, most of the nations you would think of as 'Important' affected the world.
